if this is what you mean by sighing internally instead of correcting someone then I agree that this is the best way to proceed.

I know nothing is surprising any more, yet reading through Steve King's wikipedia I'm still amazed by how nakedly, proudly racist he is.

(edit: and how the voters of Iowa are absolutely A-OK with that)

His seat is very winnable if the Dems could run a viable candidate.

I believe it was King's district where a Dem declared she would run and then withdrew due to death threats. So, that viable candidate also needs to be brave.

NYT had a profile of his district as well recently-ish, from what I remember his supporters there are good salt of the earth farm people who don't get the fuss over comments he makes. gl turning them blue.

It was Kevin Lloyd, 52, who came in occasionally, and had been in the day before, all riled up about the latest Steve King situation, waving his hands and going on about how people had misunderstood what he’d meant about “other peoples’ babies.”

“If you’re American, you got to take care of America!” he had said then. “I love that people want to come here from Mexico, from Ukraine, from the Middle East, but they need to come here legally.”

Dwain, Ron, a woman named Jane Gronau and Russell had been there, sipping their coffees, as Kevin had continued that he had no idea why people would call King a “white supremacist,” or, for that matter, why people would call President Trump racist. “Now, is Barack Hussein Obama a Muslim? In my opinion, yes,” he had said, and that had brought him to the other thing he figured King meant about babies. He had meant Muslim babies of the Muslims that Obama had allowed into the country.

“And here, I’m going to quote a great president, Abe Lincoln,” he had said. “He said the fall of America will come from the inside. Well, if you’re allowing all these children in, and if they hate America, how long is it going to be before we’re not the United States of America anymore?”

Jane had nodded: “If you study the number of Muslims, there are going to be so many here, and they’re going to have so many kids, they’re going to be able to take over that way.”
The only two cities in his district >30k in population are Sioux City and Ames. Other than that, a whoooooole lotta farmland.

Victor, I get that you're not used to being on the right side of things but when someone admits to being wrong you don't have to continue being a jackass. Tut explained how and why I was wrong in a clear manner and it made sense. I could have doubled down on my wrongness and dug in but I chose to admit defeat.

Yeah there is a profound difference on what people think even constitutes racism. Cant remember where I saw it but there was a poll along the lines of "Is it racist to deny someone immigration status based solely on ethnicity"

Results were like:
White Hillary voters, college degree: 90%
Minority Hillary voters, college degree: 80%
...
White Trump voters, no college: 20%

I know a few of the accounts people are using to skirt bans, but not gonna NARC those out, more fun to have them back.

Partially true. That candidate was also a complete joke... not that King isn't too. But there is a double standard where Dems need to run a real candidate to win where the GOP can run literally anyone as long as they promise tax cuts and guns.
