I don't think anything substantial is passing. Paul won't get bought off, (Mike Lee maybe not either) and there are enough folks that ain't supporting repeal with no replace.

This is still a dead issue no matter the back slapping.

They are voting on debate today. Not a bill. It's not hard at all to see someone going from Yes to No when they switch from voting to debate to voting for a bill
you guys are just wrong. this is a lock to pass now that its in debate.

I'm a nit and I'd snap bet on a bill passing. Hope I'm wrong.

McCain's speech would have meant something had he voted no.

Rand Paul and Mike Lee want to completely dismantle all aid, Medicaid first and foremost. Capito's state has benefited from the expansion of Medicaid as much, if not more than, any other state. It would be unconscionable for her to agree with that. I don't see a middle ground that these parties can find, honestly.

Capito issued a statement a few hours ago that specifically highlighted her commitment to maintaining Medicaid and addiction treatment. These are nonstarters for Paul and Lee. They're really quite far apart.

At the very least we can all agree that Heller is just a dead man walking at this point.

McCain sung like a bird for the North Vietnamese. He gave them more aid than Jane Fonda ever dreamed of.

I spent most of my college editorialist career explaining all the ways in which John Bolton endangers America and the world, is incompetent, and is the arch neo-con warmonger.

Not surprised at all that Trump would find him to be a great, strong, not weak, bigly terrific guy.

i assume you are trying to say that neither party is the party of the working class? because it surely isnt the republicans.

he's not even a neocon. the neocons have some idea of remaking countries into more peaceful, liberal societies. bolton doesnt. he's just an uberhawk who wants to wage war on as many countries as possible. iran is the most likely but far from the only candidate

Next up is straight repeal I think. Seems like that's pretty unlikely too.

After that it's on to the endless amendment stuff right?

They're gonna end up passing a bill mandating that Obamacare be called Republicare with no changes other than mandatory participation in the Medicaid expansion

it's looking like "skinny repeal" is most likely. They will make some small changes to Ocare and hail them as big ones. that gets them the benefit of keeping their promise to do something, but that's all that they are likely to be able to pass.

it will come with similar downsides though, just smaller (costs will go up along with FREEDOM)

2nd most likely is nothing happens. major changes unlikely IMO
