The new background check law in Nevada covering private sales and lending of guns is now indefinitely blocked. The law requires (and apparently can't be altered for 3 years since it was a ballot iniative) the FBI to directly handle the checks instead of going through the state system. Last month the FBI issued a statement that this isn't their job given that the state has a system in place that is superior to what the FBI can do so GTFO. The Republican Nevada AG stated that it's impossible for anyone doing a private gun sale to comply with the law and all sheriffs have now stated they won't enforce the law.

Another problem beyond the FBI snafu is that there's no paper trail on privately owned guns so the law is unenforceable unless authorities can prove a transfer happened after Jan 1, 2017.
