Like a $750k/yr law student knows the value of an insurance dollar. Child please. Birth control actually saves money in the long run.

My basis for comparison of other colleges and the cities they are in are Duke and UNC (Durham and Chapel Hill), UGA (Athens), Emory (Atlanta), Tulane (New Orleans), NYU (NYC), USC (LA), Florida (Gainseville), Auburn (Auburn), and Georgetown (DC). All of those are colleges I visited between enrolling in undergrad and age 23 that clearly surpassed Ann Arbor in terms of campus environment and things to do within 15 min of campus. Ann Arbor was better than Georgia Tech (Atlanta) and Notre Dame (South Bend) and thats it.

Have you actually been to USC's campus? Or just Los Angeles? USC's campus is garbage, and you have to value weather an insane amount to prefer it over Ann Arbor and South Bend.

Stanford's blew me away as far as campus without awesome beach nearby
UCSC was interesting for the beach nearby and copious amount of weed

disagree
basically, I rate campuses on "how likely is one to slit their wrists here"
USC is much lower on that scale than Michigan or ND. The lack of dreariness cannot be overstated.

Re: SE FAQ, Liveblog, and Forum Discussion
The south's college campus' just ****ing crush. UNCWilmington is absurd nice and 10 minutes from the beach. UNCAsheville is in the prettiest city in this country(my completely misinformed opinion but if Asheville was 200 miles east I'd have never left).
I just can't believe places where you have to put on winter coats could even come close to that. God I hate the ****ing north so much.

True that... too bad my wife has to live around a big publishing city, ie Boston, New York, or Chicago.
I spend as much time as possible away. If I cannot wear beer logo flip flops, it's not somewhere I want to be.

The crips shoot people, I think.
Anyway, Ann Arbor has a good park system, a good mix of homes, good schools, a variety of restaurants (not just campus bars), excellent city services, good healthcare. Weather might suck, but it's not like it's any different than Bloomington, Madison, Syracuse, Eugene, or whatever else from the north.
