Seach the thread from the past two seasons. There are a few, multi-page discussions on football books.

I wasn't a member of Debate Club or anything, but it's always been my understanding that for purposes of a discussion, if you're going to bring up a defense for your argument that no one has heard of or that very few people are familiar with, the onus to explain it is on you. The attitude of "This is right, but explaining it to you is beneath my time" reeks of arrogance. Do you come here for discussion or to feel smarter than other people?

For one, the internet is rife with people like this.
For two, poker players get into poker in order to feel smarter than the people they're playing against, and for the most part they aren't afraid of letting you know that.
Combine those two and you have a very very combustible forum, even on the most basic of subjects.
Combine that with politics and you have a nuclear wasteland.

re: SE FAQ, Liveblog, Foodblog, and Forum Discussion
It was really more a rhetorical question-- I don't think that's why Bobbo posts these things, and I rush through posts without full explanations sometimes for various reasons-- but you're absolutely right that the latter exists in spades, and it's an attitude hat is poor for actual discussion.

Don't get me wrong, I knew it was rhetorical, but I was just pointing out that there's more truth to it than some want to believe.

Not sure how this exchange is much different from some of the epi/xxxx exchanges that people get so mad about. All of SE is going to be banned by the end of the month at this rate.

i'm not a fan of some of the recent modding decisions but they have been pretty up front about treating the people who have repeatedly caused problems in the past more harshly.
i guess it kinda sucks for you that all the repeat troublemakers appear to be your bffs but them's the breaks.

Fair enough, but they haven't really admitted it and don't think they've been clear about it at all. If they come right out and say the rules will not be fair and that is the breaks, I will stop being annoying and pointing out forum-wide hypocrisy and let it go. Just would like to know for sure first.
