re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

That's a good point...but as always with Mayweather, you have to wonder if and when he'll cross the line.

re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

Following boxing intensely for a couple of years, and no match has even been this close in intensity. If Manny wins this, he will truly have broken into the top 20 of boxing, which is VERY VERY hard to do. Dont forget we are talking about a guy who came all the way from 106lbs.

As for floyd if he wins this, well im pretty sure with the amount of cash he will have made he will call it quits. He will be probably in the 30-50 range of top 50 p4p at best. Very good defense obviously, but did not prove himself.

Anyhow, whatever happens we are in for treat because pacquiao never gives a bad fight.

I think I'd pay $200-250 to get a ticket in the upper decks if it was held at Yankee Stadium, just to say I was there.

I admittedly have no clue what ticket prices would be if it was held at Yankee Stadium.

*edit: my buddies and I had a quick chat about this when we saw the Yankee Stadium link...I think I'd do it, not a bad drive from Toronto to NYC.

I'm pretty sure it's a level anyways.

Yo zugzwang, Mayweather vs. Alexander the Great, who wins? ATG 3/2 favourite imo, amirite?

brilliant tactic geddy, ask questions to which there are no right answers.

no right answer, that is, except for they BOTH win.

You know it's legit when Reuters covers the story.

Well, lol...I don't think this is "crossing the line" per se but it's still pretty lol.

Excerpt from the article above:

Mayweather, who improved his career record to 40-0 (25 KOs) with a unanimous points win over Mexican Juan Manuel Marquez in September, has criticised Pacquiao for deferring to his promoter.

"Tell Manny Pacquiao to be his own man and stop letting everyone, including his loudmouth trainer, talk for him," Mayweather said in a statement released by his promotions company on Monday.

"I am my own boss, speak for myself and tell it like it is. If Manny Pacquiao wants to fight me, all he has to do is step up to the plate and say it himself.

"I have yet to hear him actually say: 'Yes, I want to fight Mayweather.' Manny Pacquiao doesn't say anything directly about fighting me because he might just know it's not a fight he can win."

Gahhhhhhhhh...on a more tragic note, the chances of the fight happening in New York - specifically Yankee Stadium - are next to none, because of New York state tax laws.

Even worse for New York area sports fans...the new frontrunner for venue of choice is Cowboys Stadium...

re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

its gonna be some time before this fight can happen. mayweather wont want to split 50/50 and pacquiao probably is entitled to no less than that. i guess nationalism made hoya bank and i could see the same for manny but we'll see if they can even agree on a number. floyd is notorious for using financial agreements as a way to not fight particular people. or at least how i see it.

re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

man ..... I haven't gone out of my way to watch a fight since I think Hollyfield/Lewis in 1999 that ended in a draw. Pretty much turned me off boxing.

But I would def either be buying this on PPV or going to a bar to watch it.

Floyd will fight very passive for 12 rounds and then claim that the judges were blind and that he has never been knocked out before etc if he comes to the likely conclusion that he cannot beat Manny. I will be creaming my shorts if he does end up getting knocked out.
