I mentioned it earlier, but wanted to give a quick rundown of one of my favorite books.
John Grisham's 'The Brethren' ($7.99 Kindle download)
http://www.amazon.com/Brethren-John-...s=the+brethren
It's about three judges who are all locked up in federal prison where they run a weekly court for the inmates who have beef. They run some scams from inside the prison with the help of a shady lawyer from Florida.
Meanwhile, the CIA is working to install the next President of the United States in order to get more defense spending due to some perceived threats they've been following. This is set at a time when defense spending is being slashed due to not much going on threat wise.
At some point these two stories intertwine.
That's the basic premise and I wouldn't want to spoil anything by going into more detail.
It's a pretty light read which you'd expect from John Grisham.
Somehow it's only rated 3 stars on Amazon which is just laughable. Two of my friends independently read this book and somehow it got brought up and we all agreed it was one of our favorites.
Not saying this is something we should choose for a group read as there wouldn't be much to discuss afterwards, but I highly recommend it for people who like books about lawyers and whatnot.
