Still owes like 100 people $1 when he claimed in the '06-'07 NBA Season Thread "I will pay everyone who posted in this thread $1 if Dallas loses in the first round of the playoffs."

Not going to lie, this bet is starting to look great for Xorbie. Pre injury and all the hoopla I loved GSW, now not as much. Glad I didn't get sucked into this.

Yeah, he owed me 1$ - I'm still waiting.

I also have a bet w/ kbfc on Biedrins TS% vs Bynum. If neither reaches 1k mins, the bet is void. 500$

Assuming that any team is ever 40% to make the SB in the preseason is so absurd.

Saying a team is only 30% not to make the championship game is just ridiculous. Assani got by far the best of it.. and its not even close. That's one of the worst bets/assumptions for a bet I've ever seen.

Oh man would it be great if we could have a thread to just quote and remind Assani every time he makes a wrong prediction.

rakes.a.beach and I have a $50, even money bet, on whether the Celtics will make the ECF. I'm betting they won't.

kidcolin- Are you really high on the Sixers/Magic/Cavs or down on the Celts? Seems like a bad bet, and you're normally a smart guy.

FlyWf,

In a different thread our resident savant young kidcolin offered even money that ANY team wouldn't make their conference finals. I guess injury, variance, etc. might make this an almost even bet but I can't wrap my head around both LAL and Boston not being favorites to at least get that far...

Looking at it this year, the Cs were like 95% to win round 1 vs Philly and 70% vs Cle. That's being super generous to the other teams. Lakers were 85% vs Nugs and 60% vs Jazz - again likely generous, but only slightly better than coinflip of getting into wcf.

do vegas lines agree with me or not? Is any team 1:1 to make the conference finals? If so I'm a dope.

Obv Cs and Lakers are favorites to make the conference finals, but they're plural favorites (is that even a real term? you know what I mean), not outright. If I'm wrong, oh well.

Celtics are 6/5 to win the east right now.

So I assume has to be better than 1:1 to get to the ECF.

First bold is FYP, second is "lol". 95% is super generous to the Cs if anything. 70% was pretty fair, though it looked pretty off based on what transpired. Cavs outscored the Cs.

I expect the Cs to regress some, and theirs a strong injury risk this season due to age and Perk's ever ailing shoulder. The combined improvements of Rondo, Powe, etc will help counter them somewhat, but I don't expect quite the same dominance, as the East has improved.

and fwiw, I'd be somewhat hesitant about taking this bet for the Lakers. Cs I feel fine about it, though.

I think that line is pretty fishy, but still.

I don't disagree with ya there.

I would never bet on someone at 6/5 to win their conference before the season starts.

I'd be interested in putting 50 on Boston and 50 on LAL if you still want to take action. Can Escrow if you'd like.

kidcolin,

I'm tempted to take the Lakers for my entire net worth (somewhere between $150-200) because it seems so juicy, but it would require that I root for them and I simply cannot do that. So you dodged this bullet.

the popular wisdom of SE has spoken.

Franchise,

I'll take $50 on LAL. **** escrow. I'm not putting any more $$ on the Cs, though, cuz if I'm broke and jobless in 8 months I don't want an incentive to root against them.

Yea I figured you wouldn't want too much $ against your team, no worries. Want to bump LA to $100? I'm fine with either, would prefer $100 but whatever you want. Let me know.

Time to get that Kobe poster I've been eyeing up for months!

btw, Kobe's rating is supposedly 101 in NBA 2k9, I don't know how the West plans on stopping that kind of skill KC...

You meant "plurality", I believe. Also, you said you closed action AFTER my bet - does this mean we're on? (Or not?)
