Today was Kittels 12 Tour stage win, which equals erik zabels record, whos birthday was today. The irony also on the weekend team sky will show how to build a real train, maybe the sprinter teams can learn something
Anyone here think that Kittel can break Cav's record of 30 stage wins? On the one hand, he's already 29. Otoh, he's still younger than his closest competition, except Gaviria (who he doesn't have to worry about for a few years).
He has still 5 stages this year where he can win and i guess somewhere between 7-9 stages for the next 3 years (32 years old) until he is no longer the absolut best sprinter and then still 4 years where he can win 1-2 stages just like greipel does atm. So it is like 12+3 of 5+ (5 of 9)* 3 + 1,5*4 thats a maximum of 36 when he sun runs in reality with illnes and maybe gavira becoming way stronger than him, it will be like 25. Dont forget that he will likely go to katusha and build a really good train with martin and zabel. Way easier to win with a train then what he has to do now.
looks like this year's plan from the other "contenders" is the same as last...get behind froome in the standings and then ride his back wheel to certain defeat. very exciting for all of the fans.
