Round 12 picks 22/23
Chris Waddle

I was amazed to see him not get picked during the first eleven he was the Football writers Association player of the year 92-93 and a big part in Wednesday’s cup runs. A player of tremendous skill and vision, capable of playing on either wing or behind the strikers.
Waddle was an entertainer who played in a laid back style with his shirt out and a lazy gait he was a mesmerising dribbler who despite having lost most of his pace by the first Premiership season could still beat his man and if shepherded inside could pass and shoot just almost as well with his right foot as his left.
Waddle was also one of the last generation of players ever to have held down a real job he worked in a sausage factory before signing professional forms.
Neil Lennon

Another on I’m surprised didn’t go sooner.
Where people praised Waddle’s vision and flair and questioned his passion and commitment the exact opposite can be said of the man Martin O’Neil built two teams around.
Neil Lennon was a team player he worked his socks off defensively but was also willing and able to get forward and provide a short passing option to who ever had the ball. His passing was good and his pass selection was conservative but effective. Lennon can replace Boatange or McAllister and be relied upon to put in an effective determined performance.
