Premiership era build a team draft - discussion
Inspired by Assani's NBA thread, coupled with several arguments in the pub about various relevant things, the season being over at the weekend and Euro 2008 merely being an interesting sideshow rather than life or death until we lose in the quarter finals on penalties, I thought I'd see if I can get this going.
It'd operate much the same, some similar proposed guidelines:
- Selections have got to have played at least one game in the Premiership from its inception (the 1992/93 season) onwards
- Player would be in whatever you consider to be their prime
- Say 20 owners with 12 rounds, picking 11 players and a manager (building whatever sensible formation you like), consider subs if people aren't bored after that?

I think it would be fun to do this, but I'd be scared to be "that guy" that takes 2 days to make his pick in round 8.

Severely limited by my lack of pre-98 knowledge, but in it to win it.
Query: does "prime" count as Premiership prime, or prime prime? I mean my all time favorite Davor Suker was kinda crap for Arsenal, but pretty good in Spain (especially pre-Madrid, IIRC) and godly for Croatia in both Euro '96 (as Schmeichel can attest) and WC '08.

Well, I think prime can mean prime of career but "best handful of games in career" is pushing it.

Re: Premiership era build a team draft - discussion
Right, I mean we largely want this to be best Premier League players not "best all time greats who got a cup of coffee in England on their way out" - I'm pretty sure that I can draft a pretty strong team of just those guys. Hell, just from those guys who played for Chelsea...

Re: Premiership era build a team draft - discussion
I was sighing as a ManU fan, though Chelsea fans can sigh about him as well
