So just had this idea come to me and I feel like procrastinating at the moment, but I think this would make for a fantastic draft idea that is super, super deep, and very relevant considering we're coming up on football season when bad coaches will be out in full force. So it's pretty self-explanatory, simply draft the worst coaching decisions you've ever seen.
Because coaches are very, very, very stupid, this draft is super deep. So no set number of entries, all are welcome, regular snake, keep drafting until interest dies down and then everyone can jump in with undrafteds. Minimal rules, so you won't be limited to one football pick, one basketball, etc. Good writeups preferred, videos if you've got them. Should just be a fun trip down memory lane where we laugh at all the idiots who somehow manage to con their way to leading multimillion or billion dollar organizations. Only rule I think that we should have is in-game decisions only, don't lol at a GM for a terrible trade or anything like that. Anyways, tell me who else is in.
ive thought for quite a while and only have about 6 potential picks tbh, but also an inexhaustible supply of [redacted fat man] asking [redacted goat qb] to hand it off to [redacted other fat man] for a 1.5 yard gain on first down to fall back on if necessary
I'll defo rail, just for the cliff notes from some of the classics in the bad coaching thread. I can think of at least 2 crackers from the nfl last year, but i'll just post as undrafteds if they slip that far.
for Riverman. Going to let sign ups go on for a little while see if we can drum up a few more people, then maybe get it going tonight or tomorrow morning. I have no objections to adding late entrants too if someone comes along with it under way
No time limit tonight, but we'll start tomorrow with a four hour limit between 8:00 AM and midnight Eastern for at least the first round, then maybe a two hour limit for however many rounds we end up doing. Given how many potential picks there are and how close in value they are, I want to prioritize pick runs over not skipping people. If anyone wants to jump in the back end of the draft, feel free.
1. Pete Carroll deciding to pass near goal line in SB49
The pinnacle of FPS coaching. The absolute height of DO IT CUZ THEY'LL NEVER EXPECT IT coaching. With less than 30 seconds, one yard from victory, and an elite short yardage back at his disposal, Pete Carroll elected to throw. Or refused to overrule his offensive coordinator who called the play. The judgment on display either way was atrocious, and, although one never wants to cast too much blame for a bottom expectation result, the expectation from running it--in context--was significantly higher.
And really, the results, the stakes, the teams, the legacies DO matter when assessing the overall impact of the error. There was MORE to lose here than perhaps in any other single play in NFL history. Seattle on the verge of dynasty, Brady and Beli looking to move onto the Mt. Rushmore of the NFL (or lose their third str8 SB), Carroll vs. his former employer, the two most insufferable fan bases and areas of the country fighting for ultimate bragging rights.
Everything was on the line. And Carroll snorted it.
Any decision where people vehemently argued that it wasn't a mistake is a terrible choice to go first overall. There are so many coaching blunders out there that are 100% hilarious idiocy that no one can defend, just not on as big a stage. Would have not selected that at any point in this draft, let alone first overall
