He probably meant problematic in the sense that he drops a lot of easy TDs.

They finished the last 3 seasons, 6-10, 7-9, 7-9 They are short on talent and have an unexperienced coach. I really think Manning will go where he thinks he can win ASAP. He doesn't have time for a team to rebuild.

He will use Miami just like Jeff Fisher did.

kc doesn't have limited cap space they have top 3/top 5 most depending on what source you use...they certainly have money for peyton. Doubt he goes there over miami/washington/arizona (ny?/Seattle?) but its not because of cap space

I'd love to see Manning in Denver. If they are creative, they can get a lot out of having Tebow and Manning on the field at the same time.

I've always wondered why teams don't play more quarterbacks on offense. If one can avg. say 4,000 yards a year, playing ten at the same time would result in 40,000 yards.

What are the rules about trading franchise players? Are the Saints a darkhorse? They were pretty far apart with Brees and he might be amenable to negotiating a trade with these teams that are in the Manning sweepstakes for a longer deal.

I'm pretty sure they can, but he's not being shopped right now & Brees can't negotiate with anyone else since he's under the exclusive version of the franchise tag.

I dont get the Peyton won't play for Rex bit. If anything I think there would be a lot of mutual respect between the two. a combination of one of the great offensive and defensive minds on a team with talent all around the field, seems like a great fit.

Has a player ever received the exclusive tag and then been traded? I can't recall, the wiki list only goes back to 2007.

They used their franchise tag on Bowe. If they sign Manning this combination would likely use up much of their cap space. Though it depends how much he would sign for.

I feel like KC is being underrated as a win now option. There are no elite teams in their division, and San Diego, Oakland, and Denver aren't really candidates to improve significantley next year. Good defense, good offensive skill position players, and Peyton manning open some things up for Jamal Charles and vice versa. ESP compared to Addai.

Also I feel like people are exaggerating how much he was falling off in 2010. His numbers were worse, but the colts were ravaged by injuries. He lost Clark for the year, collie was was having an absolutely absurd year before he had all those concussions. And Addai was hurt too, which hurt them in pass protection and they has no run game at all. A lot of the situation around him had regressed. It def stands out as outlier for him effiency-wise, and I think several of his options significantley more talented than Indy. Niners are insane if they don't pursue him. It's Peyton ****ing manning. They could be Super Bowl faves for 2-3 years

According to ESPN, 12 teams have contacted Manning's reps. Let the Manning sweepstakes begin.

I'm figuring 15-16, just too close to guess on San Fran. And I guess I can subtract Indy after that big pow-wow press conference.

Of course there's no way to know how many of those are serious inquires. Any team with QB need should be doing their due diligence and talking to the guy, but he's probably overpriced to several teams calling.

browns too

Miami just makes too much sense though. Decent enough team without a good QB, a capable enough backup on the roster, Peyton owns a house there etc etc etc

Major +1, they have to be posturing right now so it doesn't blow up in their faces when Peyton signs elsewhere. No need to publicly embarrass Alex Smith unless you have to.

This, the roster was actually pretty awesome by the end of the year last season, and the weapons are so good that Matt Moore finished 12th in the league in QB rating. Before the rumors even really got started about which team he'd play for, I said he had to go to Miami because it makes so much sense. Still think so now.
