I didn't say he did nothing. I said he got the vapors and left. Or as the report said, "...immediately left, distraught."
That's what he did, then called his parents. From his office (which I assume is in the same building). Did not call the police. Then went to his parents'.
The next day he reported it to JoePa, which is what I assume you mean, but that does not change the fact that when he actually witnessed the child being raped, he blanked.

Lots of attention on JoePa and the GA, and while I think they should have done more, it seems clear to me the AD and school execs are largely to blame for everything related to the cover up and inaction of the University.

Holliday,
I don't think anyone is saying that the kid didn't flake--though there is a lot of debate on whether the average person also flakes in that situation. It's not exactly what you expect to see in that situation, even when you hear sex noises.

I'll read the report now but sounds like he did even more than I thought. No more posting from me until I read it.

ATA,
The story is that Joe pushed dude to retire in 99. He's not somebody who was under Joe's supervision when this occurred. Somebody comes to you with a vague accusation about a former employee- do you turn into Columbo or do you put the situation in the hands of the people responsible for that individual?

There is plenty of fail to go around. The GA didn't stop it or call the cops. Joe Pa was made aware of it and chose to not follow up. (IMO) The AD didn't call the police. I think the kid was worried about his job, Joe Pa was worried about his legacy and the AD was worried about both.

OK, I'll say it. Why do you think he pushed the 30 year defensive coaching vet (evidently considered the creator of "Linebacker U") to retire at age 55?

Actually seeing someone have anal sex with a minor is not a vague accusation.

I suppose we'll find out tomorrow morning. Statement expected from Spanier as a result of tonight's meeting. I'm sure they'll **** it up.

Also, I totally agree RE: the students. That type of stuff makes me proud to be a Penn State grad.
