Out of boredom one day awhile ago I just randomly read a bunch of wikipedia articles on a host of famous serial killers and a huge noticable chunk of them had horrific childhoods rife with abuse (physical, emotional, sexual, you name it).

I'll also go ahead and throw out the likelihood that Sandusky's wife is not clean in all this. There is virtually no way possible this dude was raping and abusing children under their roof for like 30 years and she knew absolutely nothing.

He managed to get caught multiple times at his work for God's sake. While she may not have actively participated, she either knew about it and turned a willful blind eye to it or she managed to dig herself to a depth of delusion nobody ever has before.

"Dottie Knew" just doesn't have the same ring as "Joe Knew"

It's reasonable to want to empathize. It's extremely challenging to understand abnormal psychology without having lived it, or without having a messed up friend or family member. Even then you won't really know.

I think what happens is their value system and sense of morality is pretty far shattered. Some of it could be a sick revenge or vindication. The abusers often have a distinct lack of understanding of other people's feelings. I'm far from an expert though.

Totally agree. But it still amazies me that the entire State College community still holds onto this feeling that the man(men) in charge have no culpability in all this. I just wonder if this would be to this degree if JoePa had stopped it when he first knew.

I hope Baylor and the other schools that have these disgusting problems react quicker, with more power and decisively to stop their schools from becoming a Penn State.

The reason I keep responding to this is because of the denial the PSU fans across the country have regarding to their coach and Admin's involvement. That alone is sickening.

You are wrong. If you haven't noticed, this entire forum agrees by now. You've been consistently doing some kind of weird self-masturbatory thing ITT for a long time. No one posting here in literally the last multiple years has tried to defend Paterno or the PSU administration in any way. As someone who has actually lived in State College for almost my entire life, I've tried to explain the current sentiment of the local community to you in a rational matter, but you just keep trolling and adding absolutely nothing to the conversation. And you didn't even go to Ohio State, so you probably shouldn't be talking about rivalries.

Two things - actually three.

First - personally two degrees from OSU. Immediate family - six degrees. Extended family has 3 degree from PSU. Even some attend(ed) Abington.

Secondly - maybe you have tried to explain the state college aids to others that don't know it first hand - but I don't need your insight. Check the posts - I tried to explain my background related to that part of your state.

I think it is important t keep the schools, and communities, position on these crimes relevant. The last post(s) from others and me added information to the sewage surrounding your beloved institution. The fact that the son of the coach that JoePa supported, hid and enabled was both abused and now identified as an abuser should be held up and discussed. All this continues to mystify the general public every time we hear of the "glory of joepa and PSU". Maybe you just don't get it. But the further away from state college you go the more people just don't understand how a state supported college can be such a disgrace.

So if you don't like what I say I get that. I don't think anyone in your area would. But in your case all you simply have to do is block me or just don't open the thread. It really isn't that hard.

Curley and Schultz pled guilty to one misdemeanor count of endangering the welfare of children. The crime carries a maximum of five years in jail. The judge suggested the plea did not come with any sentencing deal.

It also appears that Curley and/or Schultz may testify if Spanier decides to go to trial.
