Not much generates better schadenfreude than butthurt penn state fans.
If they had any sense they'd lie low and hope their football program eventually loses its infamy rather than bleating about the august and venerable football tradition there.
Best part is the end, they really think they are of elite tradition and in that historic type of caliber Man it's hard to hold back on FB, pretty sure id alienate myself to my old friends haha

Oh man I love him now. I bet the Ped State message boards are on fire.
This is how they are reading it.

Now what kind of sucks is that people will see BO'B's leaving Penn State as an admission of defeat. It looks like (according to David Jones) he couldn't handle the 'Paterno people' idiots so he got the hell out of there, instead of "He used PSU as a stepping stone to get an NFL head coaching job."
Well look, if PSU wants to continue to be Paterno people, then taxidermy Joe Pa and wheel him onto the field. It won't be that much different than his last 4-5 years on the field/pressbox anyway.
It's funny how alums think they're going to land some big name head coach without a problem because their program and brand is supposedly reputable and respected.
Why would Al Golden or James Franklin ever leave their positions? They've only been coach for 3 years at their school and have been fairly successful. PSU has sanctions, no AD, fans who still idolize Joe Paterno and a reputation for harboring rapists. In what world is that an attractive position for a coach?

Totally delusional.
Not to mention it's in the middle of ****ing nowhere. It really is a cult up there in happy valley.
PSU boards are surprisingly rational. Lots of bitter folks but they are just more vocal. Lots of people who recognize that he did a great job in a tough spot, regardless of a sloppy exit.
Yeah but what they aren't rational about is the value of the coaching job. They think prospective coaches should be drooling at the chance of getting it and that it is the holy grail of jobs when it is anything but that.
To me, it seems that Schiano is the most realistic candidate for the position. He was successful in college but showed that like many coaches before him (Saban, Spurrier, Petrino etc) his style is geared towards running a college football team rather than a NFL team.

Schiano isn't at the top of my list, but I don't think he's any worse of a hire than Sark was for USC.

Most of PSU board is actually state officials. Most of them didn't attend PSU. They didn't want anything to do with this cluster **** to begin with.
There's half of me that wants BOB to succeed just to shut up all the haters that complain that the Belichick tree stinks, and there's a part of me that is now scared of the Texans.
BOB took a great job opportunity with bigger aspirations, walked into a ridiculous situation, and basically pointed the finger at all of the idiots at Penn State and said, "this job sucks right now, we all know it, but I was hired to just help fix this ridiculous mess a bit, and I did it. I'm moving on to greener pastures."
But the fact that he walked in knowingly and took that job believing in himself as a no-nonsense coach makes me believe he might be the best Belichick disciple yet.
So I could really care less about what the Paterno faction of people, or whatever you call them, think about what I do with the program. I’m tired of it.
coincidental phrasing or elite jab at Paterno's "victims" statement?
i caught that too, but just figured it was a coincidence. no way he's that awesome to stick that in there purposely in the heat of a f-bomb laden conversation..right?
