I don't think a death penalty will happen for the entire school. But I could see this being it for Paterno coaching-wise. Think they'll go outside the program to find a successor, brand new coordinators, new AD, total house-cleaning.

In retrospect, likely not, but it's pretty easy to see how at the time he could have had that in his mind.

I don't want to apologize for or defend McQueary's reaction to what he saw. All people on the flip side of the argument have been saying is that it's understandable to see how his first reaction would have been to take a more passive stance on this.

obviously the dude wouldn't've been fired right away, but it's not hard to see a situation where, if he had called the cops and this had blown up, the guy is ostracized and continually passed over and eventually leaves.
