WHY IS TOM BRADLEY ALLOWED TO BE HEAD COACH THIS WEEK?

He's been on this staff forever. He's been around the program forever. He's seen Sandusky around kids. He had to have known the situation. WTF?
I heard his comments yesterday and they were pathetic. The questions asked were fair ones. This guy does not deserve to ever coach a football game. He let a child rapist walk around campus with little kids. Any common sense says he did this knowingly.

Penn State - where football is #1 despite pedophilia being exposed.
There still has been no realignment of priorities.
I give that program the death penalty as they continue to miss the big picture.

Re: Scott Paterno - seems like (before the Paterno camp hired a PR firm on Thursday) that he was pulling the strings on his father's PR strategy. What a f'in idiot.

So I see that Sandusky has already pleaded out on these charges? I was sure he was going to go to trial on this especially since the case has gotten so much publicity.

Re: Penn State undergrads - ironically, in their ******ed support of Paterno, they are hurting Paterno in the court of public opinion, only reinforcing the "Paterno is God at Penn State" idea and that he was pulling the strings, had all the power, and was the ultimate decision maker.

recruiting article was fine IMO, but it looked ugly when ESPN seemingly refused to cover the important aspects of this story from the start. Most of us itt were calling out ESPN for not covering this story harder from the start.

Let's not kid ourselves, ESPN is going to make a lot of money from televising PSU's next few games. They have quite an incentive to make sure they still take place. Notice how comments change as guys spend more time on the Bristol campus. Compare Mark May's initial tirade that was linked here where he called for the rest of the season to be over to his latest comments. Similar stepping back is taking place all over. It's CNN that had the poll over whether the games should go on. It's ESPN that only had a one-line blurb when one advertiser pulled their stuff for Penn State telecasts.

ESPN is an ugly beast in all of this as well.

Rich Scarcella, a reporter for the Reading Eagle, is on the phone with Francessa now. He says he hears another indictment is coming and he thinks it's the President.

I think the press release from Spanier should be in the sticky/thread summary/timeline thingy.

Let's take a look back at some of the scandal's greatest hits: "With regard to the other presentments, I wish to say that Tim Curley and Gary Schultz have my unconditional support. I have known and worked daily with Tim and Gary for more than 16 years. I have complete confidence in how they have handled the allegations about a former University employee."

Shemp - he beyond buried himself with that. I don't think it was just that Spanier's an idiot, but more reinforces the idea that Spanier truly thought he was untouchable. Any other university administrator, when learning that 2 of his deputies were indicted for perjury and failure to report, would've released something very neutral and defer to the AG's office on the matter.

The press release forced everyone's hands, including the AG's office. If Spanier is actually indicted at some point, perhaps it would have happened anyway without this press release, but that surely did not help his cause.

He hasn't entered a plea yet.

You guys who are putting child rape ahead of football realize you're making the same mistake that Sandusky did, right?

Tom Bradley played at Penn State and has been on the staff there since 1979. He was under Sandusky. He replaced Sandusky as DC.

Are people claiming he didn't know?

IMO, it looks like he is complicit with the whole scandal as well.

How does this guy get to be head coach for a Big Ten game?

I don't know if failure to renew an employment contract is treated as tantamount to termination in whistleblower cases in PA, but it certainly is in some jurisdictions.

If you read the article where Barry Switzer was interviewed, he says there is no way that a coaching staff that has been together that long doesn't know everything that was going on. I really do think it was a poor choice to make him interim coach. It just seems like another example of Penn ST having their priorities wrong.

Im way too young to have kids but this is simply incorrect. Do you know what someone would do if caught red handed ****ing a child? I 100000000% agree he should have called the police BUT you say its indefensible he didnt immediately without telling anyone go into the dark to physically stop a rapist????!!! Get off your high horse man, this is something someone does in a scary movie and you scream NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

But of course you are breeding hero spawn so I guess its different.
Lol, lord help me but I find Maximose's posts amusing and insightful. "Something you see in a scary movie and scream NOOOO!!!" lol, that's a nice picture.

You other trolls could learn something from him about making a point sometimes, even if it's buried in over the top rhetoric.

Unfortunately, Max, you seem to be responding to a post I did not make. Have never said anything about him being required to run into the shower. I'm merely saying he is required to do *something* whether it be calling the police or jumping in and stopping it or calling the police and then jumping in himself. Or pull the fire alarm and hide in a closet for all I care. He was 6' 5" 260, former star qb for Penn State, 28 years old and could obviously risk a physical encounter with a naked 60 year old chubby man, though.

But my point is a 28 year old man should not need to call his dad and ask him what to do. That is the 28 year old's time to define who he is.

I read elsewhere that the attorney that Paterno "consulted" (but has not retained per Junior Paterno's tweets) is the same one HW Bush hired during the Iran-contra scandal, can anyone confirm?

Some former Penn State player from the 50's is donating money to Sanduskys defense and is soliciting money from other alums to help him. Per Francessa.

This was reported by MSNBC last night.

But I wouldn't read too much into it - maybe it means Paterno will be indicted on State/Federal criminal charges, but at the very least it's obvious he will be named in a civil suit from the victims, so it makes perfect sense for him to retain counsel immediately to prep for that eventuality. If I were anywhere near this thing (especially on the coaching staff) I'd look at retaining counsel now - potential exposure is terrifying in this situation.
