Horrible post.

I really do think bills had an excellent solution; the games should be played in front of family members in an empty stadium.

Sure. Or maybe limit it to 2,000 people and donate the money to the victims.

Not trying to be inflammatory in the least. I simply think it's shortsighted to say "shut it all down"

I find that very difficult to believe. You certainly aren't trying to have a reasoned discussion on the manner.

I was just going to post this

'shut it all down' would almost certainly cause a riot too, probably a worse one than wednesday night

They only have one home game left and its saturday. I understand the anger that people feel, not wanting psu to profit off this program. Especially given how the supposedly squeaky clean image that the team has projected unto its fanbase, under which these despicable acts have taken place.

All of that being said, it is just impossible logistically. You're telling me they should be playing on a random hs field. I'm pretty sure the hundred thousand fans that have bought a ticket would have something to say about that. The opposing teams won't stand for it in future weeks. The impact and problems caused by canceling/moving these games greatly outweighs the negative aspects of playing them as normal.

so Penn St. is putting Nebraska in a pretty horrible position Saturday. Can Nebraska as a whole guarantee the safety of it's citizens/ players/ spectators in traveling to Penn St.? What kind of statement is Nebraska making by playing a football program that supported pedophilia for 15+ years?

Penn State SUCKS for not cancelling this game, and every other game this season. How dare they consider themselves in the same genre as every other Big Ten team at this point.

The players should not be collectively punished for the idiocy of the administration. Refund the ticket money and play the game in an empty stadium.

The game isn't in columbus, let's not get carried away. Nebraska fans will be treated fine.

Yes. And such an easy column to write.

Another problem, and this may seem brutal, but the BoTs primary focus needs to be on moving the university forward-- not accountability. Yes they do have accountability responsibilities, on-going and important.

Likewise with restoration of the victims.

I apologize. I was not attempting to be inflammatory, and I did not succeed at using words. I should not type when frustrated.

I just simply don't understand the mentality of "Shut it all down. A lesson must be taught to everyone." I also don't understand the "life's not fair" business. I'm fully aware of that, but why does it have to be unfair to those kids who were not involved? Why can't good come of this? Why do we have to drop to the most cynical level? They plan to donate money for sexually abused children from tshirt proceeds on Saturday. Some ITT, auto-assume it's a PR stunt. I just don't understand a great many things.

I'm rambling now. I apologize.

Can anybody explain what the university is doing? It makes absolutely no sense to me that he hasn't at least been placed on administrative leave.

This, seriously. Are people really concerned about Nebraska people's safety? That seems hilariously unfounded.

why do you make posts on this gimmick? serious question.

but no, that's not my reason. my reason is that there's a ton of $ involved in this game. cynicism aside, none of the current coaches besides mcqueary and none of the players have anything to do with this. and we know paterno had almost nothing to do with running the football team anyway. if penn state can guarantee safety - they may not be able to - there's no reason to play this game. metaphorical statements about how 'the football team is the problem' don't really have weight imo.

OK, let's set aside for a moment the fact that I'm not necessarily endorsing them playing with no coaching staff at all, just not *this* coaching staff.

Are you ****ing kidding me? If they have 12 men on the field or have more blown routes or coverages, it is going to be DANGEROUS?!?! In THIS thread you're saying that?!?! I mean, are you for real?

It's not 'Nam. Or even the shower in the Lasch building.

I think some people want to see the university bathe in shame to show solidarity with the victims. I do understand the concern regarding the victims, and a need for some kind of representation of solidarity, but I'm not making the same connection as far as canceling the football season as a positive step for the victims or the university. Not at all.

Also, there is a legal process in place, in motion, two years old and yet in its infancy.
