lol, ICWUDT, your "median salary for a Chicago public school teacher" is actually the mean salary for everybody in "Education, Training, and Library Occupations" working in Chicago. Which includes "Graduate Teaching Assistants" (avg=27k), "Teacher Assistants" (avg=25k), and "Library technicians" (avg=32k)

the median for people in the "Education, Training, and Library Occupations" group of Chicago is actually $24.54 * 2080 = $51,043

If nothing stands out good or bad (which is like 80% of the time) then 15-18%. If they do something that annoys me they drop to 10-12%. Multiple things that annoy me and the tip is 7% or less. If they do something that I like then 20-25%, possibly > 30% if the meal is in the $10-20 range. I try to vary bc some people deserve much greater tips than others imo.

Other than that I try not to price in any waitress's hotness into my tips. That's pretty much it.

I would be fine with raising all teacher salaries if they all had to put a clause in their contracts to not post about their ****ing kids (or "scholars", puke) on facebook or talk about them for any more than 15 minutes at a time.
