The way I've read this is, some Iowa random shows up and posts "yay Hawkeyes" and is IMMEDIATELY pounced on by homers from Texas, USC, Oregon, and other places with "you don't really think your team has a chance, do you? DO YOU? lololololol, I just hope they make the NC game because they will get DESTROYED." This is before the person ever has a chance to respond with "yeah I know we've been getting lucky as hell - even our coach says we're not that good. We just want to root for our team is all." It's mostly bitter homers of one-loss teams and of course the real problem is the BCS and the lack of a playoff system, which in turn is projecting as hate towards luckbox homers.

I can remember maybe one Hawkeye homer trying to defend their ranking. Other than that it's 100% normal for people to come out of the woodwork when their team is doing well, regardless of sport.

EDIT: also, kkcountry is awesome for the most part imo. I like Arctic Knight a lot but don't know where he's coming from here.

The extreme bandwagon nature of the Iowa fanbase here deserves to be ridiculed imo, there was one of them at the beginning of the season and now there are about 15.

Yep. Iowa homers are no different than fill-in-the-blank team that performed above expectation/rating in any other sport. They're just the hated on flavor of the week.

lol do you think Iowa fans haven't cheered for their team? They haven't gone on a run like this, but they have always been pretty good fans imo. Not like illinois or northwestern.

i think the point is moreso that the iowa fans don't talk at all in the latter scenario and front running is pretty much always lame

I don't know. I don't see getting on the case of some other team's bandwagoners. I get more annoyed at the people who wave my team's flags every June but who couldn't tell apart Pau Gasol from Andrew Bynum.

Same with Poker Chief except replace Boston with the Dolphins and take away the well-spoken part. I have him on ffvb ignore but it still shows me when he has the last post in a thread and I can only imagine what I've been missing.

I think the difference between Goodie and Poker Chief is that Goodie has some longish, authoritative posts that end with Boston being the end all, be all (and are obv wrong). P Chief is more along the lines of "lolz, Jets are sooo bad. Rex Ryan is fat and the fans are stupid."
