thread. Excited to see if trainwrecks ensue.
Been reading about the water for weeks but it really took the Real Sports thing to hammer home that is because a large part of the population use a sewage system that involves household pipes to a poop stream which joins poop rivers before all merging in a poop bay where people are going to compete.
The violence in rehousing for site clearance that was reported really kind of harshed my child-like glee with shiny gold medals and USA#1, which I did not appreciate.
Ready to get bored with the opening ceremony, watch basketball and track and renew my hatred for gymnastics (srsly I have never met a woman who is not all in on Olympic gymnastics).
Also saw this early on:

I do. It has some good "only for the Olympics" qualities: can be time-shifted to whenever with zero chance of spoiling, is always amusing to just look up and see people doing it competitively, and the "you had two feet off the ground" "no, I just had one" petty drama. I will watch anything but diving and lifting, because I just can't get past that feeling like they are going to get hurt on every attempt.
