Rio's horror week: Body parts wash up near Olympics beach volleyball site

(CNN)With just 36 days to go before the Rio Olympics kick off, the situation in the host city just went from bad to worse.

A beach goer Wednesday discovered human body parts that had washed up on the shore, right in front of the Olympic Beach Volleyball Arena on Rio's famed Copacabana beach.

A dismembered foot and another body part still unidentified was found, according to Andre Luiz, an officer of the Military Police. Police believe the victim was a woman or young adult.

VISITORS to this summer's Rio Olympic Games in Brazil have been warned not to get ill during their stay because the country "has no hospitals".

Fans flocking to the sporting extravaganza in Rio de Janeiro were greeted by a sign at the city's airport saying "welcome to hell" and warning them emergency services are understaffed and underpaid.

The shocking development is just the latest blow to hit the beleaguered Olympic Games, which has been dogged by accusations of incompetence, corruption and fears Brazil is not fully ready to stage the event.

Its still a 3rd world country. How they won the olympic games anyway is mind blowing. Would have taken a staggering LOLtastic amount of corruption. But the olympics and corruption go hand in hand. Its like the World Cup.

I have a friend who's competing who went over a few weeks ago. She said the stadium she's supposed to be competing in wasn't close to being finished and the traffic was ridiculous even without the tourists.
