my feelings towards the olympics as well.
might be nostalgia, but I loved the olympics growing up, and winter olympics especially. I remember loving the **** out of speed skating and figure skating (cue gay jokes), watching it with my mom. Am I huge speed/figure skating fan? No. but it ruled in the olympics. same with most downhill skiing events.
But the past ~8-12 years of olympics has been worthless to me. It's too hard to watch stuff. My parents have the same complaint. It's all just human interest stories with very little of the athletics.
It's no surprise NBC is probably losing money on the olympics. Humans love love love athletic achievement. It's awesome, it's breathtaking, it's inspiring. That's why baseball boomed in the dingers era. That's why everyone was freaking about Bolt this past summer, and MJ back in '96. Remember how popular MJ was? How many olympic athletes get that kind of attention nowadays?
