I am thinking of getting a level 1 certification as well. hopefully I can assist a team somewhere. mostly I just want a reason to do more hockey.

Man I need to get back on the ice so bad. I've been playing a little pick up street hockey here and there and it seems like I've still got the knack for making a sick feed or two. Hockey is so much fun.

Played some more pick-up today. 4 G 1 A including the GWG. Man, I'm so out of shape just running around out there. Had one garbage goal and one that I just threw at the net that went in. The other two were pretty nice, I got a rebound at the right post and just lobbed it right up over the goalie for one and on the GWG someone took a shot that got blocked and came to my stick right in the slot. Made a move to the right and fired it high blocker FTW. There was a pretty cute chick playing today, so maybe I'll have to get my Geddy Lee on in future contests.

I don't envy you guys going through the certification process. It's a long day and depending on your hockey experience and the people running it there might not be much to take away from the day.

I'm two games into my season with 1G 1A. I need to get into better shape, I'm pretty useless after the first period. By the third I'm lucky to get up the ice once before I need to change. Doesn't help that we only have 7-8 guys each night.

The beers after always help though.

How long on your games that you have 3 periods? My league is just one period...like 30min or something. 50min of ice time.

Figured I'd post in this thread, but my orthopaedic surgeon's appointment is upcoming next week, where I get to find out if I'll be allowed to continue playing or not, and if surgery's required for the shoulder. Kinda nervous tbh.

Had a bad game. My teammates were changing like ****, so my third line was stuck with like 8 minutes of ice. Got a couple of shots tho.

Guy dives at my feet then flails his stick at my shins. I kick it out of the way. Unsportsmanlike. Lol.

on a new team this year, think they won the league last year or something, but i had a brutal 1st period and bad game overall (my worst in quite a while). someone decided that we needed to switch the pairings (i obv play D) because of it, seemed a little dramatic to me, but w/e. we lost our first game of the year, people seemed to be freaking out about it. not like we played sooooo bad that the D cost us the game or anything, i mean we only scored 1 freakin' goal! goddamn forwards do something, jeez.

Early season beer league freakouts are the absolute nuts, lol. We started 1-3 this summer, with a team that had a bunch of early 20's ex Jr. B/C guys, losing to a bunch of 30 and 40somethings in games we had no business losing in. Words were exchanged and beers were downed inside the room, and we stormed back to win the ship in August.

I personally felt that not committing to Dry Island really helped turn the ship around.

We've already cut one goalie! We started 2-0, then went 2-2 giving up 13 goals in the two losses. We are now 2-4-1, and that goalie is probably loving it.

I have not been playing very well, kinda lazy. Probably due to being out of shape.

i'm jealous all your seasons have started already, i'm still almost a month out : (. even worse right now the local rink was being used for a jazz festival the last week, so we had no ice for a while and now the ice is still a little ****ed (they put carpet down right over the ice with metal chairs over it, with nothing hard to stop the feet of the chairs from melting into the ice from the pressure).

i'm stuck staring at my new skates/watching old red wings championship videos to get motivated to work out off ice. one of the guys on my team just e-mailed me this today though, pretty cool little spot on our team on the sun valley resort website to help promote us to tourists: http://www.sunvalley.com/#experience...immersive=true
