I'm so God damn out of shape. Gotta work on that. Donked around at some street hockey today, I'll probably try and hit the ice quite a bit more starting next week.

Worst thing about living in Philly (Manayunk) Nearest ice rink is like a 25 minute drive away, very tough to just go for a quick open skate or stick and puck session.

I always thought lining up both wingers on the inside for a d-zone face-off was pretty standard. You can get more advanced than this but that would be starting to get nitpicky.

met an 18yo roller to ice convert at stick-n-puck. seems like a nice guy, with good skating skill. works pretty hard too. he's looking for a training partner and a team for the summer. i am looking for a training partner and i have a team. it's a match made in heaven!

just got back from my first stick and puck, it was so much fun. I was obviously terrible but started to get a feel for it as time went on. Definitely going to get into it at every opportunity. Yaaahhhhhhh

and trying to play puck is a good way to gain appreciation for how ****in good NHL players are

Yup. I got to play open hockey with some seemingly pretty good men's league players after a long hockey hiatus awhile back and and even at that speed I can't imagine what playing in the NHL would be like.

I played against Alyn McCauley a few years ago in a tournament and was so disappointed that he didn't try at all. His snap shot was unreal though.

crap game yesterday. we got doors blown off in the second. kinda held our own in the second. they had a couple of ringers, but position-by-position were just better than us. good experience playing against guys who are faster and have a few dekes.

i played d and pulled off a sweet legal check of a forward in front of the net. would be glad to hear refs opinion on this. instead of crosschecking to the back, someone told me to get the stick under the waist line and then lift the guy up. surprised how well it worked.
