Well of course OJ wouldn't do anything to implicate AC in the book. He's also an inveterate liar with infinite versions of the story depending on who's listening. So while it probably does contain a lot of truth, the book very likely also has a lot of non-truths about what happened.

I remember at the time of feeling sickened by the reaction to the acquittal by the Black community , but watching in retrospect it is entirely understandable although completely naive , this verdict was a big win for OJ but was never going to improve the lot of the African-American community . He got off because he was wealthy enough to afford the best defense and also because of colossal screw ups by the LAPD and the DA's office.

I would doubt very much if many people who celebrated his acquittal in 1995 still feel jubilant in 2016 when the cops are killing blacks in record numbers and their hero OJ is serving a 33 year sentence for basically a small time robbery.

Didn't see anybody mention this, but why tf did Furmhan plead the 5th to the last question about planting the glove.

No - because he had to plead the 5th to every question or to none. He was concerned with perjury prosecution for denying he'd said he n-word in testimony that occurred before those tapes were played. He didn't plant that glove.

Because if he answers that question, he has to answer all of the questions. You don't get to pick and choose which questions you want to answer. The Defense knew that if he pleads the 5th it will look to the jury like he's doing so because he planted the glove...Ito should never have let that question be asked when it was established Furhman was pleading the 5th.

Is this actually true though? I know Furmhan said that but I don't think it is.

I think the proper play would have been for Darden to redirect and ask Furman if he shot JFK, to which Furman would plea the 5th. Then ask if he blew up the Hindenburg and he'd plea the 5th. Then when the defense objects you say "If they can ask totally ridiculous questions to a witness that can't answer why can't I?"

The jury was not present when Fuhrman was being asked these questions.

oh, then what was the point?

For the TV observers i'm sure. JFK question serves the same point.

If this were to happen today, would CTE be the path the defense would go down?

One thing that popped out in the FL Bailey cross:
He first asks Furman if he's ever addressed a black man an an Nword in the last 10 years.
Answer: No (probably the truth. I doubt Fuhrman has said "Hey NWord" to a black guy recently)

Bailey then proceeds to a few more questions. Then returns to:
So have you addressed a black man, or used the term to refer to a black man, in the last 10 years?
Answer: (stumbles) No (a lie)
If he is smarter there (or the prosecution does it's job and objects) they make the distinction. But Furman is way too rattled to think at that point.
A very subtle but different question. And it made all the difference.

Ito definitely got used and abused. Can you believe he stuck around until 2015?
Jury didn't give a **** by the time it was over. 9 months? gtfo. I like to think I would have stuck it out and deliberated and argued for the obvious guilty verdict, but another 3 months for a hung jury? (because no way some of those jurors are ever voting guilty)
I suppose it's turn about for the white jury in Simi valley that voted not guilty. Or all the white Southern juries that voted guilty without evidence.
Or it's Robert Durst with the race card.

My guess is "If I did It" is filled with a lot of lies.

Any other good tidbits from that book? Really can't bring myself to read it.

Such a great series from start to finish. Not a dull moment in over 7 hours.

just finished part 3 - amazing that the defense was able to rig OJ's house by putting up pics of OJ with black people. How is that not a major violation of something? Ito seems like he will be a moron.

These no law against redecorating your house. The jury should've never been there in the first place

So funny when Cochran's sidekick is like "If it was a Mexican jury, we would've had OJ wearin' a sombrero!"
