Thought part 3 was a little boring, nothing new there.

So far part 2 was the best with the OJ/Nicole stuff.

Remove some/many of the many pictures in OJ's house showing him with numerous white friends and celebrities and replace them with other pictures showing him with various black friends. Some of the replacement pictures didn't even have OJ in them, and one was reported to have come from the home of Johnnie Cochran.

Darden was completely right. They were gonna make the trial about nothing but race and ask "Are you with The Man, or are you with the brothers?"

Kind of amazing that they only took people who could sit on a jury for 6 months. Pretty much disqualifies employed people.

Complete opposite of Cristiano Ronaldo in today's world.
It was also a different world with so much less media and hype back then.

It could be OJ was putting on an act to look selfless or his personality could have changed a ton over time and he could have become a lot more entitled the more famous and loved he got.

Oh he was 100% right- but Cocran used it against him brilliantly.

With that being said, since there are literally so many takes on this, I want to mention something that won't be mentioned a lot, and that is the moment that led to the actual killings. I believe it was in the last episode (5) that they talked about the book that OJ participated it that was called If I Did It. There was a huge firestorm when it was about to be published and the book was pulled, but then the Goldman family got the rights to it, and it was actually released.

Now, I haven't done a ton of research on this, but OJ had mentioned either in the book, or to someone else (discussed in this episode) that if Nicole hadn't come out/come to the door with a knife, she wouldn't have been dead. Now, they did a reasonably detailed account of the Keith Blomsavich (sp)) situation, where OJ had been watching Nicole give oral sex to Keith in Nicole's condo before the murders (week or weeks before?). I think that it is likely that OJ went to spy on her before his flight, with no intention of killing her. In the documentary, they stated that the went to the kids' recital that day, then was NOT invited to dinner with everyone. The dinner, of course, was at Mezzaluna, which Keith Blomsavich managed. It was also stated that OJ also called Paula Barbierri that night, but she was ducking his calls, or at least not answering. And then you have the known fact that Nicole had been rubbing her fling with Marcus Allen in OJ's face (or at least not hiding the fact). A friend of Nicole's (Greer?) had even given a crazy statement in the doc about Marcus being a bigger and better OJ, and when he said bigger, she hung on to that and gave a smile that was like a wink (I'm betting money that she was talking about Marcus Allen's penis size). If you see her mention that, you will likely agree. So, OJ was losing everything, getting humiliated in public, and he was out on the island all by himself.

He may have gone to Nicole's condo to spy on her, and maybe she noticed him and came to the door...with a knife. Maybe he wanted to talk to her one more time and to reconcile, so maybe he knocked on the door. But Nicole, knowing that this time there would be no reconciliation, took a knife to the door. OJ likely snapped and then went into overkill in the frenzy. Then Ron Goldman shows up with Nicole's mother's glasses that were left at the restaurant. It is possible that Ron and Nicole were also having an affair, but not sure if anyone has stated that OJ was aware. In any event, the story is so massive that talking about this risks misleading someone who hasn't watched it, that my little take is what the doc is about, but I think that there is little chance that OJ went there to kill. He either went to spy, to try to reconcile, or even to confront, but not to kill. If there was a video tape of that whole episode out there, I would want to know those facts more than the Kennedy assassination.

This documentary must be watched if you have any interest in the case, and the multiple dynamics involved. I think with the recent miniseries on FX, that someone could get the gist of it, by reading discussions about it, but OJ Made In America is so strong that if you are reading this thread you ought to consume it all now. Tremendous.

Marcus Allen was rumored to have a 12 or 13 inch penis and this just confirms the rumors. It's a very important piece of the narrative as we will later learn.

Zoey said during the documentary that she could identify with OJ's fall from grace as she had gone "from a hero pilot to a whatever tranny."

Speaking of betting on the outcome of the trial, a woman at my workplace insisted that OJ was going to be found not guilty and goaded me into betting her $100. I forget at what point in the trial it was. When he was found not guilty, I went to pay her and she refused to accept it. I felt terrible as I certainly would have taken her money. She eventually bought my pool table and I gave her a $100 discount without disclosing it to her--soothed my conscience.

Well I've read two books that reference Marcus Allen and the sole reason that Nicole was obsessed with him. Thought it was pertinent to the story.

They needed a hard core cop here and this guy from the doc served that purpose. Cop was like: "this guy who I don't even know wants to weep on me"? It was pretty balanced, and this was one of the best docs ever.

To a different point, everyone in hindsight remembers the gloves not fitting, but the jurors have never said that it was an important part of their decision at all. And when Johnnie Cochran said "if it doesn't fit, you must acquit", he was talking about the overall case, and not about the gloves. He was even saying that shortly after putting on a stretch cap saying that he was still Johnnie Cochran, and that OJ could never disguise himself with such a cap. Now, this documentary actually showed Cochran's comments about doesn't fit and acquit shortly after the gloves part of the summary ( in the closing argument), and this was actually misleading. If you really think about it, if he is talking about the gloves, he would say: "If they don't fit, you must acquit". But he said: "If it doesn't fit, you must acquit". He was talking about the whole totality of the case, evidence, history of racism in the LAPD, possible ulterior motives of cops, etc. But that line stuck and not many really know the context of it.

The other thing that most people forget, is that if you could bet money on the verdict after knowing that the jury was out only three hours, most everyone would have bet that he was guilty. I was taking bets in college, and up until that day I was giving odds of even money either way (11-10). After it was announced that there was a verdict, most everyone thought that he was going to be convicted. People called me and wanted to bet, and I told them that the bet was not being offered anymore. All would have bet guilty. That is part of what made the announcement of not guilty so shocking. In hindsight, lots of people, pundits, etc. claim that the prosecution never had a chance, but in reality, it was looking like the Dream Team was going to be humiliated in a big way. You could see in Johnnie Cochran's outburst with hands on OJ's shoulder, that it shocked him. Check out Kardashian's stunned look, too. No way they thought OJ was being acquitted there.

Another fascinating story line, is that the slow speed chase Chopper Pilot, who now goes by the name Zoey Tur, was actually known as Chopper Bob, a real hotshot, sexy, male helicopter pilot in Los Angeles who was part of reporting on police chases. They never showed a close up of Bob in the chopper, but they interviewed Zoey many times, and she finally alluded to her transition late in the documentary. Chopper/Bob's, or Zoey's daughter is none other than Katy Tur, an MSNBC correspondent who covered the Trump campaign this year. There is even an interview where Trump humiliate's her for stammering when asking a question (see somewhat bashes him on Twitter now, and is not on the campaign trail at this point). Katy Tur is very hot, and she dated Keith Olberman a few years ago. It is also known that she had an extremely tough time coming to grips with her father having a very recent sex change.
People definitely look at things a lot differently with hindsight and it's a lot easier to look at mistakes etc when you know the results.

I was 12 when this case happened so I really don't remember most of what you're talking about so I found your post interesting.

Part 5 is pretty good because it is stuff you wouldn't really know since it came after OJ had no longer been in the spotlight and the case faded away.

The Florida years, the memorabilia heist, his autograph $ being sheltered from the Goldman's etc...

I'm halfway through episode three right now. I don't get the people who say this one is boring – I've been riveted throughout this entire series.

The white Bronco chase is one of those things where you remember where you were when you saw it. I was living at my uncle's house at the time – and I remember we both spontaneously used the word "surreal" at the same time.

Also apparently Marcus Allen's penis needs it's own thread.
