The team I'm with in Wheeling kept their playoff hopes alive last night by winning with 1 second left in overtime. Pretty dramatic stuff obviously. Big game at Toledo tonight in front of a sold-out crowd of 8k here. This place will be crazy. my game broadcast tonight at 7 on xxxwheelingnailers-dot-comxxx

holy crap, i can't believe it. such a great great effort by the RIT team, we just blew them out the last 40 minutes. I'm already looking to fly from SF to Det to watch the game (or buy a new tv). It's also a proud day as my alma matter finally played in a game big enough to be listed on bookmaker, made myself a nice $11

Attendance in Ft. Wayne must have been awful. They announced 4k for the two games combined. One writer estimated 2k or so for the first game. Yiikes. Thought Michigan could have traveled in more fans than that (as well as Miami).

Not really a big fan of these neutral-site regionals. Short notice and tough for fans to make it to a lot of places. They switch around some of the brackets in an attempt to get ANYONE to show up pretty much and it still isn't that effective in a lot of situations.

I'm in favor of the 1 seed hosting the regionals similar to how I think they do it in the early rounds in the Womens hoops tournament. Also give a 2 week gap between the conference tourneys and the beginning of the NCAA tournament for the hosts to set stuff up and also for the visiting teams to make late arrangements and for their fans to try to get out there.

Yeah, I think the #1 seed hosting the regionals would be good. Gives a bigger reward for getting a 1 seed because the edge in hockey even between the 1 and 4 seeds is pretty damn low.

Yes. The 1 seed is deserving of the advantage anyway. And playing these big games in bigger atmospheres with better crowds would be way better for the game. Crappy attendance at the regionals just doesn't come across well on TV.

Basketball opening round NCAA tournament games have some sketchy attendance as well with people coming in and out of the day/night doubleheaders and not nearly as many fans of the 8 actual teams involved able to make it out due to crazy short-notice long-distance travel. and that bugs me too. But it still looks reasonable on TV and people seem okay with it.

But the hockey attendance at these things can be just terrible and embarrassing.

Really surprised with the issues with the Michigan game in Ft. Wayne. Wonder what the crowd will be for tonight's game.

Ft. Wayne is one of the biggest minor league attendance draws in the country and is generally considered to be a pretty fanatical fan-base. 10k sellouts for their games in the IHL aren't uncommon at all and I would have assumed that some of those fans would have turned up just to see the games. I'm guessing the arena operators who brought the regional to Ft Wayne in the first place were thinking the same thing. But very few people went. Of the small turnouts there I wonder how many were area Ft Wayne Komets fans just checking out the NCAA hockey vs. how many traveled in fro Oxford and Ann Arbor.

lol Yale...I was really hoping this would be a close, tight-checking game. Alas, no.

Michigan-Miami in T-20. Gonna be sick.
