they should enforce slashing any time a stick makes contact while missing the puck by more than a foot

this whole being able to smack a guy at will just because you're within stick-length has gotten way past ridiculous

it isn't defense, and it isn't making a play on the puck, it's just a stupid attempt to injure through papercuts/luck
