Richards is a dog to crack 1000 points even
it's not close, but if it was the fact that he was on the 2006 Olympic team should be held against him

he's has Ron Maclean's vote, but that's about it

good player, seems like an alright dude, HOF is lol though

thought somebody (DGB? Wysh?) did a run down of active, future HOFers recently, but i can't seem to find it now

here's a Wysh one from about 2 years ago, he rightfully has BRAD as a bubble guy:

Quote:
Current Credentials: Twelfth in active points with 831; ninth in active assists with 569; Stanley Cup and Conn Smythe winner.

The Bubble Verdict: Bubble. This season shows that Richards still has plenty left offensively, so there’s no telling where those numbers will end up on the career rankings. If he plays another seven seasons and gets to 700 assists, he might be a Hall of Famer. Unless the Hall of Fame sees him as Bernie Nicholls.

Mike Richards as a hall of famer is one of the funniest things I've ever heard.

A maximum of 4 players can make the HHOF per year...

So if he retired today let's think of guys that we would put ahead of Richards who are active...

1. Jaromir Jagr
2. Joe Thornton
3. Jarome Iginla
4. Marion Hossa
5. Henrik Sedin
6. Daniel Sedin
7. Alex Ovechkin
8. Sidney Crosby
9. Henrik Zetterberg
10. Evgeni Malkin

So there's like 10 guys and many of them will retire quite a few years after Richards will so there may only be like 3 guys on that list that will be ahead of him but then you have to consider guys who are already retired that are better than Richards...

1. Eric Lindros
2. Paul Kariya
3. Mark Recchi
4. Theo Fleury
5. Alex Mogilny
6. Dave Andreychuk

To me the guys listed above are clearly better than Richards and should be there ahead of him but he does have a legit chance to get in but could be tough. Will be 5+ years for sure and then you'll have guys like Crosby, Ovechkin, Toews, Getzlaf, Keith, etc. to deal with so it's probably a borderline chance at best.

72off, how old are you? and like, what's yr story? has the nhl threads ever heard yr stories? i can't remember a time. i've been lurking the nba threads a lot and they have a lot of people in there who talk about their personal lives and it's quite interesting to know what the actual dude behind all these names are.

can't put a price on the ability to submarine the Sedins at evens
(while you have 2 other guys on the roster who have scored 30+ with them)

@NBCSports
Torts reportedly told star Ryan Johansen he was out of shape, then essentially benched him

Man, it's fun to watch this go down when it's not your team!

Yes, this is going to be amusing.

But seriously, how stupid does Blue Jackets management have to be to pay a second rounder for Torts at this point (in the season, and in Tortorella's career)?

i guess the compensation is set in stone, for now*

it's a 2nd for a mid-season hire, 3rd for an off-season one

* - supposedly everyone hates the new compensation rules, so they'll be scrapped sooner than later

Last edited by 72off; 10-23-2015 at 07:31 PM. Reason: pretty happy to get the free 2nd tho, even if it is for 2018 lol

He's a hockey player. 80% of the NHL is just average white dudes.

Vancouver is also picking up part of Torts's contract. We don't know how much that is.

I don't think Tortorella is a good coach, but I don't know how many jobless coaches there are at the moment. It's hard to hire anyone 8 games into the season, and basically anyone you do hire is going to have an active NHL contract.

Oh, also, Brad Richards is not a Hall of Famer. Real good player but he was bad defensively. This could be his last season too.

Carlyle seems like he would have been a natural. He makes your terrible team suck less and several of the last few coaches had been his assistants.

Is he still getting paid?

Torts is a fire.

I've always thought that Pacioretty has been decent but he might be one of the better players in the entire league.
