Here we count shots because there no longer are goals.
Hours of operation: 1am-7pm ET
The Teams:
Chicago Blackhawks 15/2
SO HOW WAS YOUR SUMMER?
Tampa Bay Lightning 8/1
Other than the whole "Steven Stamkos is 9 months away from being an unrestricted free agent" thing, everything is going swimmingly. Oh, and losing the Stanley Cup Final wasn't so great either.
Los Angeles Kings 10/1
Milan Lucic is the answer?
Anaheim Ducks 11/1
Came close last season, losing a hard fought WCF to the eventual champions from Chicago. Their championship window should remain open for a few more years yet.
New York Rangers 11/1
Another team that has come close, and still has an open window, but are they really making progress towards a championship? Do they have what it takes to go all the way?
Pittsburgh Penguins 12/1
Single-handedly trying to bring back 80s hockey. Their young blueline probably means that they will have to score a lot to win, and they should. The Penguins are more must-see than ever.
Minnesota Wild 14/1
A solid team in probably the league's toughest division, will they ever beat the Blackhawks?
St. Louis Blues 14/1
Spoiler alert: early playoff exit incoming
Washington Capitals 14/1
T.J. Oshie enters while Mike Green exits. Is this the year Ovechkin makes a real run at it?
Nashville Predators 15/1
See: Minnesota Wild
Montreal Canadiens 18/1
Do they have enough championship caliber talent?
New York Islanders 22/1
A very solid team that are probably undervalued here.
Columbus Blue Jackets 25/1
Swung for the fences by adding Brandon Saad to their young core, should be a solid team and worth watching.
Detroit Red Wings 25/1
The post-Babcock era begins now. Loads of talent in the system as always, and many of the players are familiar with the coach from stints in the AHL. Will the playoff streak march on?
Winnipeg Jets 27/1
The people's champion is bigger and badder than ever, can this injection of youth and maybe some better discipline allow them to take the next step towards real playoff contention? Surviving that division will be the first step.
Calgary Flames 30/1
They luckboxed their way into the playoffs and beat some crap team in round 1 last season, GET HYPE.
Dallas Stars 35/1
Opting for the "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em" strategy for dealing with the Blackhawks, or something like that. Should be one of the most entertaining teams in the league.
Edmonton Oilers 35/1
More exciting sucktitude guaranteed this season.
Ottawa Senators 35/1
Fitness could be a concern after all of those burgers last season.
San Jose Sharks 35/1
Call me crazy, but I think this is their year.
Boston Bruins 40/1
#YOLO
Florida Panthers 45/1
Big news people, Jammy Jagz is bringing the mullet back!
Oh yeah, and this team should be fun to watch as well. Wonder if anyone in South Florida will notice.
Philadelphia Flyers 60/1
Looking like they'll have over $15m in dead money on opening night, so safe to say that the rebuild isn't finished just yet.
Colorado Avalanche 80/1
They have half of a good team ... the other half? Yeah not so much.
Buffalo Sabres 85/1
Can you see the light at the end of the tunnel? Doesn't say a whole lot, but should be their best season in a few.
Vancouver Canucks 100/1
The fish at the table.
Carolina Hurricanes 100/1
Eric Staal and Cam Ward are both in the final year of their contracts, so there could be quite a facelift coming.
New Jersey Devils 100/1
On the plus side, they have a good goalie.
Toronto Maple Leafs 200/1
Gonna be a long, awful year, especially for the hotdog vendors.
@JasonPHT
Linden asked why not put Higgins on LTIR to protect Corrado. "We could've done that, but we decided not to." Hmmm.
hahahaha

they haven't claimed anyone as far as i know, so continue laughing.
this whole line is such a leak, far more significant than they think i believe.
i mean for one, this team is not deep at all in defense. Hamhuis, Edler & Tanev are good, Weber & Bartkowski are alright, Sbisa is bad, Hutton seems alright and has potential, but who the hell knows with him really. i wasn't especially high on Corrado, but he's a 22yo who might be in the replacement level neighborhood. bad teams shouldn't be giving away players like this for free.
and this is the exact same thing they did with Clendening. they had a better prospect in Gustav Forsling, but decided that they needed something more NHL-ready, so flipped him for Clendening. then a few months later decided that the 23yo Clendening wasn't worthwhile, so gave him away in a bad trade with Pittsburgh.
part of the justification for both moves i assume goes back to something Benning said earlier about not wanting players sitting around and not playing, but that's just not how it is, wake up.

We had to make a decision, we didn't want to have 2 young defenceman not playing as 7/8 D - Jim Benning
basically every year you're using 10 different guys, sometimes 12 or more. you need lots of defensemen, they get hurt a lot and stuff. most teams seem to only keep 7 on the roster, but carrying 8 is perfectly fine, they'll all play. but no, let's just act as though injuries are turned off.
ok so the Canucks have the 7 on the pro roster, you have to assume that 27yo AHLers Taylor Fedun & Alex Biega will be the callups, and after that it's a group of unproven, non-elite prospects. i guess their plan is to just hope that someone magically emerges as a good pro. if Hutton is good then they might have 6 legit NHL blueliners. if this team ends up needing to use their 10th-12th defensemen this year, they're pretty screwed. well, they're screwed anyway, but i think they're trying to be competitive here, which is pretty hilarious.
what'll probably end up happening is that they will need 10+ guys back there this season, and they'll end up burning more assets to acquire someone along the way. book it. the asset management is so bad at every turn, it's pretty amazing. just bleeding the organization one move at a time.

yeah well Hamhuis, Weber & Bartkowski are all UFAs after this season, and they're stuck with Sbisa for a while longer here, and the cupboard is pretty bare ... so yeah i'm really hoping for Jakob Chychrun in the 2016 Draft.
having Forsling would be pretty nice, only 6 games into the season but the 19yo has seen his PPG jump from 0.16 to 0.83, after a great WJ tournament last winter. yep, sure glad Benning gave him to the Blackhawks for nothing.
Welcome fellow contenders, pretenders and 'Yotes fans. May your passes be crisp, your hits be clean, and all shots be on net. Let Da 'Hawks victory lap commence!
In but not hopeful at all...Highlight for me this season will probably be the number retirement for Marty in February. They also got a statue for him too that's gonna be in front of the Rock...can't believe they found that much bronze.
1. you don't need to force Leafs talk into everything. they're bad, we all know this, it's part of the plan, so there's not much to say. their top prospects won't even make much of an impact, even if they do play on the big team, which makes them completely unremarkable this season. like they're down with the Devils & Coyotes in the dgaf power rankings. they might even be last. the most interesting thing about them is seeing which of these replacement-level goofs plays well enough to turn into a decent pick or prospect, and that isn't very interesting at all. there's no reason for anyone anywhere to care about Brad Boyes or PA Parenteau, and they don't. so you really don't need to talk about this team so much this season. this is rock bottom, it probably won't even be much fun to crack on them this season.
(in b4 the sum of their WIMy tryhard parts + Babcock = better than expected results and much is made about that)
2. is Byfuglien to Boston a real rumour? i know he's UFA next summer, but he hardly seems like a BBBB player. (see: defensive play, effort, turnovers)
Hockeystreams is not an option right now. There's links on reddit/youtube but you'll have to search for each game individually and is a hassle. I will likely GCL.
Kings fans are delusional about Lucic. Lucky if he brings Dwight King level performance. Not a good sign when your new acquisition is the worst conditioned player in camp. (In a contract year no less)
<<<<< Iz ready.... as usual. Bring it on less habitantz.
Keep it up 72o, deflecting away from your own franchise freefall is probably optimal for you. Has any franchise in NHL history fallen as fast the Canucks btw? Just wondering... I guess you could wait until your hero DGB brings up the topic but we know that's not happening because he's knows that no one actually cares a lick about your team. No cares = no clicks brah.
Alright....no more McLoser and the stench of DETROIT MICHIGAN failure and misery, no more shooting 700 times from the blue line and hoping for the best, confirmed POS rafi torres is already gone for half a year and most importantly
