why are you asking? just curious.

sidenote: i remember (around 1990) whenever the Bruins played at home they would just annihilate the opposition in SOG. like, any time the puck left the Bruins' player's stick it was a SOG. random facto. not sure how it is now.
im asking so i have a very clear understanding of what goes into that PDO stat. i guess teh goal of the stat is to separate luck from skill in that everybody evens out in these two categories over time so if you had 15 shots that hit the post 1 game, your shot% may suffer temporarily but it'll come back in line over time.

i'd bet the minimal sample size for meaningful PDO stats is relatively high for this reason.

in this case, rangers had high shot% b/c they hit a few posts and didn't put enough pucks on net. so their PDO was very very high (100% save % and high shot%). both are lucky (well, i wouldn't call lundqvist 'lucky' as much as super skilled and the offense got a bit lucky in terms of shot%)

overall, i'm walking myself through the PDO stat from a single game to the long term perspective. the fact there IS a PDO stat obv means one game is 100% meaningless. but it helps me conceptualize the stat.

Re: NHL Playoffs ECF - NJ "Do we send a card to the ex-sister-in-law?" vs THE NEW YORK RANGERS

i think the rangers owe it to henrik to win the cup.

season after season he's been incredibly consistent. 4/7 vezina nominations. nhl record 7 30 win seasons starting w/ his rookie year. broke many important franchise netminding records. and no cup to show for it. c'mon guys. put the goddamned puck in the net more consistently please, take this series, and then go to the video and concentrate on putting a ton of pressure on quick.

but first ofc, let's take this series down in 5. richards, gaborik...it's time to earn those paychecks. i mean ****...if we're gunna have a rookie sensation on the first line, let's try out kreider and have stepan/cally/hagelin maybe?

LOL. i will say in my defense to the previous no knowing it was at 1pm that i copy/pasted the days (not the times). since both previous games were 8pm i thought sat would be 8pm. now i'm checking all on my phone the day before to be 100% sure.

c'mon richards. score more pls.

honestly i'd love to see:

1. avery replace prust
2. first line: kreider, richards, gabby
3. second line: anisimov, cally, stepan
4. third line: hagelin, avery, fedetenko
5. fourth line: mitchell, rupp, whomever (i forget the 4th line rw'er)

let's gogogo. bring up avery pls.

Quote:
Prust will not forfeit any salary for the playoff suspension. There's no early word on who might replace Prust in the Rangers' lineup in Game 4. Brandon Dubinsky has skated at Rangers practice in recent days but he's not expected to be fully recovered from an injury in time for Monday's action. It's possible that defenseman Steve Eminger could take shifts on the fourth line as a replacement for Prust.
booooooooo. i mean i'm all for eminger getting icetime but i would really love to see SOMETHING upset the devils a bit here. i think avery has the chance of getting more powerplays for us than eminger is worth as a forward to i'd like to see him there. our pp has been great vs. the devils (just get girardi the puck at the point please ).

yeah sean avery is retired from hockey. he was playing in the AHL, he didn't play for a month, then the rangers told him not to show up anymore.

dcifr: you weren't the only person who was confused by the time. two other people didn't know.

Did you forget that Boyle's on the team? He's the best penalty killer FFS, not some 4th line throwaway.

Geez, calling Avery is like the worst option out of 10 for the rangers. Right below having torts putting on a jersey.

yes i did lol. i knew i was missing somebody and was too lazy to open up another tab and search the roster. now that i hear his name obv i remember lol. yea he's solid. he actually was kinda slow 2-3 years ago but worked super hard at it and now is a solid skater, a great pk'er and has a few goals to his credit as well.

prust boyle mitchell was the line i was thinking of. and yes i read that avery threw his skates in the hudson but c'mon...a guy can dream right?

a few years ago my favorite line was avery callahan anisimov... one of these people is now the captain, one is now on the 3rd line, and one is apparently chucking bauers into the hudson lol.

if the 2008 devils were out there, they'd follow him around the ice looking to smash him. but they're not, and he's not. still, the rangers need to give someone else on the team avery's number so the garden 'faithful' will chant his name erroneously thinking he is back.
