i really don't think a5 has been remotely unreasonable, or even whiney.

Do I think the Bruins deserve to be leading the series? Definitely. Have they outplayed them over 200+ minutes? Absolutely. But it hasn't been nearly as lopsided as the the scores indicate, and several Bruins posters are being insanely obnoxious.

It's because it's the Pens. They incite the types of posting you are talking about more so than most teams. As for Rafiki he's been pretty much the same all playoffs long. The big difference is a5 is actively engaging him rather than taking his posts for what they are.

I assume this means someone from the 3rd line dropping down to center Merlot.

If that's case I'm hoping for Kelly. Daugavins with Seguin/Peverley would be an insanely fast line.

I'd imagine it has to be Kelly. You don't think Claude would promote Paille? I think he'll put Daugavins on line 4 and Paille on line 3 (random guess).

Paille-Pevs-Segs pretty damn fast too

That actually makes more sense and I'm guessing is what happens. Paille obviously deserves the minutes more than Dogman.

That messes with things quite a bit since a) it's more money than I'd like spent on him and b) it might be awful tempting for Chia.

edit: just looked up the compensation for four #1's and it's 8.4 so it's not happening. I do see him getting 7 per pretty easily though.
lol, given how badly Chiarelli has drafted, we probably don't want that.

The morning skate was Daug-Peverley-Seguin, Paille-Kelly-Thornton. I don't like it, I think it's a waste to have Kelly there, but w/e. I also think Paille>Daug, I imagine Claude will mix and match the bottom 6 mid game.

Peverley showed some life last game.. hoping he can carry some of that over. Maybe with a new linemate they can get a spark going.

Kind of bugs me since I've always been a huge Peverley fan.

Wasn't here hired May 2006? Doesn't that mean he drafted:

Kessel, Lucic, Marchand, Seguin, Spooner, Knight, Hamilton and Koko?

I agree you also get Hamil, Cross, Colborne (who was decent trade bait), and Sauve. Caron is doing pretty much what your typical #25 1st rounder does.

I think he's had great drafts and bad ones. Not ready to say that his staff has been awful just yet.

Chiarelli was hired in May but due to his contract stuff with Ottawa, couldn't officially start his duties with the Bruins until July. So Kessel, Lucic, Marchand are all picks made by O'Connell's interim replacement and former assistant, Jeff Gorton. Gorton is also the one who made the trade for Rask.

Chiarelli started drafting in 2007 and you can see the results for yourself:

http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/draft/t...r00004919.html

With the exception of Seguin/Hamilton layups, he hasn't drafted a single NHL player. To be fair, the jury is still out on a couple picks, but it's been 6 yrs with a lot of busts.

Incidentally, O'Connell went on to be Director of Pro Development for the LA Kings lol.

O'Connell is pretty awesome btw, there was a great bit he did for Boston radio the summer after they won the Cup that has been replayed in the past week since the Sharks were eliminated.

Basically about how even though the trade of Joe Thornton prob ultimately cost him his job, he was steadfast in his belief that Joe would never amount to the kind of team leader they needed and that it was imperative they part ways with him and instead build the team around Bergeron.

The fact that the Bruins basically got nickels on the dollar for one of the top 10 forwards of the 2000s and still won a Stanley Cup is amazing. I do remember Larry Brooks calling O'Connell a dolt on his way out the door for signing career backup Tim Thomas to a 3 year deal (this probably turned out as the best non-ELC of the previous CBA).

Maybe not, but, again, a Pittsburgh Penguins fan complaining about luck is like the funniest ****ing thing in the entire world.

Hi, I'm Bill Berg, Executive Vice President of Poster Safety and Omniscient Thread Overlord Operations. Recently, I've had the displeasure of reviewing some controversial and low-quality posting in the playoff threads; this trend has seemingly come to a head with the following plea for restraint and perhaps even supplementary discipline from one of our senior NHL Posters Association (NHLPA) representatives:

In response, I've reviewed the evidence, taking into account context of the series and past posting history. And the results are less that favourable.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

** At 3:11 pm, on Friday, June 7th, the following post was made by poster rafiki, in response to reasonable requests from senior forum leadership that he display appropriate levels of restraint with his future posting:

Wrong.

In the best interests of playoff posting, I've done my best to remain uninvolved and allow posting to continue uninhibited. But this type of blatant disregard for the overall quality and reputation of our product is unacceptable. To post terribly is one thing - many of you are the equivalent of no-skill career fourth line scrubs and couldn't help yourselves if you tried. But to take pride in posting terribly, and blatantly alert everyone that you intend to continue posting terribly...well, my friends, that's an entirely different level of suck. And over here at Poster Safety HQ, located poolside at Glenn Anderson's residence, we don't take kindly to such threats.

To review the key points:

- Blatant, repeated and perhaps intentional low quality posting
- Multiple attempts at instigating confrontation
- Refusal to contribute like an adult
- MAJOR INFRACTION: premeditated objective of posting like a clown

I don't like throwing around steep punishment so late in the season, but unfortunately, there are times when you find yourself with no other choice. The maximum allowable fine without suspension is still only 5,000 Sklansky Bucks, which is a disproportionate pittance compared to the severity of the suck.

Thankfully, my IRL colleague has shown that there is room for creativity when handing out suspensions; rafiki's situation gives me an opportunity to introduce the latest innovation in SE poster discipline:

THE TORRES CLAUSE

It is my recommendation to 72off and any other SE mod reviewing this in-thread hearing that rafiki receives THE SHANABAN™ for the remainder of the Eastern Conference Finals. This means his suspension will last a duration of 1-4 games, depending on the series outcome. For maximum lulz, if a game 7 is forced, we would then review any appeals for leniency, if he so chooses to post during the 2013 Bruins tribute to the 2010 Bruins collapse.

Any repeat offending during the Stanley Cup Finals - which he has already unambiguously hinted at - will result in THE SHANABAN™ for the duration of the playoffs and perhaps lasting until the beginning of free agency, at the discretion of the Poster Safety committee.

Don't test us again.

Thank you for your time, and enjoy tonight's game.

Wow, that is some heavy and deep stuff to look at. Lol at the clause being called the Torres Clause, though. I wonder if there is a Sean Avery equivalent to that.

I thought about it, I'll give you the ultimate freeroll. If the Penguins win tonight, I won't post until the series is over. If the Bruins win tonight, my posting will continue, and probably trend towards worse (maybe not).

Honestly if you close your eyes and picture the Habs in the playoffs at this point, or the Rangers, you can't tell me that Kirby, Rata and company wouldn't be doing stuff like this. I think they would, maybe I'm wrong. Also by trolling standards this is both mild and fairly mediocre (I admit).

Anyway enjoy tonight, you may get a free ban without mod intervention...
