You seem like a good dude. I've always liked Iginla but the B's have always been my team. Moved from Boston to Chicago last year. Gonna be an interesting series for sure.

I'm not eager to emphasize how bad he is - well, maybe a little, but only because he went to the Penguins who I loathe. And Iginla deserves all the love he gets in Alberta, he was an excellent player and remains a decent one. Still, you could make a hell of a team out of guys who never won a championship - it's not every great player's birthright.

That's true, but our culture puts so much emphasis on rings, I want him to get his.

And it's not just Alberta, T. He transcends the sport up here, coast to coast. Think about it this way - Jarome is Schwartz's favourite player. That's how revered he is up here, and that's why I said I don't expect Murs - or the average American fan, for that matter - to really "get it."

If he gets a ring, it'll be the equivalent of when Lanny got his ring in '89. The Flames are maybe like the 5th most popular team in Canada, and Bob Cole's "You did it, Lanny!" call is still one of the most iconic in Canadian broadcasting history. It's still used in a Scotiabank commercial up here ffs.

Yeah, I'll confess to not getting it. Even if the Devils hadn't been up against Ray Bourque, I would've hoped that Bourque put the Cup winning goal in his own net in the Finals, because [censored] him.

Even if we leave the cultural significance up here alone, none of those guys could ever lay claim to being the best player in the world for an interval of time, either. Jarome was.

I think we kinda forget just how good his prime really was, because it was wasted in a minnow of a TV market, amidst some pretty garbage teams.

Jerome for me separated himself with his play for Team Canada that will always endear him to my heart. I don't remember him challenging for the role of best player in the world though.

You just can't get your head wrapped around how valuable he is. Especially in an all-star format where you wrap pure scorers around him and he just clears the way. The scorers are easy find. The beast warriors like him. Not so much.

Because taking runs at guys on Olympic ice has proven to be so valuable to our success in the past.
