McJesus has the MVP in the bag. "Player wins Art Ross in his 1st full season leading a 10 yr lottery team to the playoffs". The narrative is too strong and he is too good. Bob is the only other person in the conversation but he's...well ... Russian.
(fwiw Bob's numbers are ahead of Chief Price's numbers in his MVP year)

Now you guys just have to come to terms with
Auston winning the Calder.
Now he may not win due to the Leaf vote being split 3 ways but he should be the winner in what is one of the finest rookie crops ever.
Now the stats between he and Laine are close at this point with Auston having a slight lead in goals (36-34) and points (63-61) but he has played 6 more games than Laine giving Laine a slight per game scoring lead but again this is negated by Laine's several empty net goals. A closer look at the stats reveal Auston leading the NHL in several important categories including ES goals, road goals, 1st goal of game, goals in the 1st period, record for most gwg by a teenager.
The real divider is the fact that Laine played top line minutes with Schiefle and Ehlers most of the year. Matthews played center with 2 rookies on his wings all year and dragged his team into unexpected playoff contention. Let's face it Winnipeg did not live up to expectation this year and Laine has falled off a cliff production wise the last month.
