This is the obligatory part of the year where they do CHI-STL-MIN-WIN-ANA-LA-SJ-SJ and somehow find 10 pts and play themselves out of a top 5 pick so that 72o can't have nice things.

Twitter donks and CBJ fans up in arms over this Polak hit. He was given a major and game misconduct yet most of these idiots are still calling for a suspension. Sure it's 2 minutes but 5 is really stretching it and a suspension is a joke. Why guys turn into the boards like that I'll never know?

As an aside because the Leafs were not able to put someone in the box or didn't (not sure which) on the Polak major they ended up having to kill an extra 1:33 for a total 6:33 on that PP before play Boyle fired the puck into CBJ bench.

If he's suspended maybe Babcock will realize the Leafs are actually better with him not in the lineup and he'll end up in the press box more often

I will respectfully disagree with you. There are also some fancy stats that backup Hunlak doing real good work over the last couple of months.

Man did Carrick ever step up tonight though. He's mobile and tough and when he doesn't try to do too much he's very effective. Uncle Leo gets the game puck from me tonight in what was a great effort game for the Leafs. Fehr also stepped up big tonight considering he hasn't played in ages... or for the Leafs that matter.

Polak was already getting a 5 minute major and a game misconduct at the time of of this clip. Torts must have been pushing for execution.

Crosby has no chance to catch McDavid now in scoring with Kunitz on his line (Guentzel concussed). Here is evidence of the Kunitz effect this season:

Crosby 17 games w/ Kunitz = 0.88 ppg
49 games w/o Kunitz = 1.35 ppg

Malkin 28 games w/ Kunitz = 1.00 ppg
34 games w/o Kunitz = 1.29 ppg

think literally every single time i've seen Kunitz play in the last 7 years i've been dumbstruck by how incredibly average he is
(aka ****ing up Crosby led attacks)

ya, the strength in the forearms it takes to do that is unfathomable to me

pretty sure i saw a feature on him one time screwing around on the ice just continuously whipping pucks top corner 1-handed from the high slot, craziness

pretty sure i started the offseason thread in like January last season lol

not much of a playoff battle in either conference really, think last season was similar

but thank goodness for the 2-1-0 point system for fake parity and competitive races amirite
