Starting to get more convinced - going in and winning b2b on the road in NYI-Det was a big change from the past. Team seems to have enough now that when one line is off, the other lines are good enough to keep the game competitive, which wasn't the case in the past. If Talbot ever gets hurt or slumps, look out.

I also did a quick tally up - the combined record of the Oilers opponents this year is 88-76-23 (essentially imagine they'd been playing a team that is currently 6-5-2 every game). It hasn't been the world's toughest schedule, but it hasn't been all cream puffs either.

another hilarious sidebar to this season's LolCanucks storyline is that they've been almost 100% healthy so far, and still historically bad. well they've been without their best dman Chris Tanev for a few games now, he's apparently out for weeks, and now their most underrated forward Jannik Hansen is out 4-6 weeks. this is gonna get real good if the injuries start piling up, considering that they have literally zero depth at forward.

anyway, they play the WANGZ tonight, who are also pretty bad, and dealing with the realization that Kronwall is probably finished as a good hockey player. should be interesting.

in other news, Patrik Laine is on pace for 64g/88pts ... is that good?

even as dumb as i think Benning is, i feel like even he won't trade Boeser, Juolevi, Demko, or the 2017 1st. but it is pretty funny that the team struggles out of the gate and all of a sudden he's fielding calls from around the league like a 911 operator. he'll likely do something dumb, it just won't be for one of their top-4 assets mentioned above. if he does, it's like officially game over seinfeldleavingjiff.

This game vs the Senators is the first one of Gary's I've been able to catch, and I totally agree, bringing back a lot of memories. I love Bob, of course, but getting Gary to cover these is awesome.
