Someone should've done what bigdottawa did for the Senators cause there are no Canucks fans at this game.

This is an incredibly dumb question I'm sure but is there such a thing as like nhl heat maps where they track slap shots from 20 feet out or whatever and how often on average they go in or is there too much noise with players more in the way than NBA . Idk anything about hockey

it's become like Toronto, people seem late to arrive at the start of periods

something like this?:

http://nhlnumbers.com/2012/6/26/shot...nd-shot-totals
(the guy who wrote this was hired by the Carolina Hurricanes iirc, some interesting names in the comments as well)

and of course with point shots, they also lead to deflected and rebound goals

i'm sure there's been more recent work done, but hell if i know how to find it anymore, though google can probably help

3 on 3 OT is fun, but it's just as much of a coinflip as a SO.

Good article, if short, about the Caps' deployment of the Tre Kronor line (Johansson, Burakovsky, Backstrom). Small sample size so far, but results are off the charts. In short, they've used that line as the de facto shut down line and they've been crushing, even primarily playing against Malkin, Tavares, and Mackinnon.

hmm, yeah Sens attendance could be a storyline going forward.

http://nhl.nbcsports.com/2016/10/19/...ory-in-ottawa/

capacity of 19,153
17,618 for the season opener vs the Leafs
18,195 for Saturday night vs the Habs
11,061 for last night vs the Coyotes

Kanata & budget aside, some of the team aspects remind me of the Canucks, making some boring win-now/lose-later moves for guys like Phaneuf & Brassard. and their prospect pool seems powerful weak, which is concerning considering they haven't been all that good for a while. might have some decent depth players, but not much as far as top-end talent afaict.

on the goalie market

Quick out 3 months, M.Smith out ???
UFAs to be: Miller, Bishop, Bernier, S.Mason, Pavelec, Elliott, C.Johnson, Neuvirth, Kuemper, Greiss, etc

still more sellers than buyers imo, shop wisely friends

I recall the sellouts lasted a while in Ottawa. I guess they didn't. It looks like the new building was pretty empty the first few years.

http://www.hockeydb.com/nhl-attendan...h.php?tmi=7328

Where were they before 1996? Ottawa Civic Centre.

The building hasn't moved.

What are the demographics like in Ottawa. I always imagined it was people moving in and out.

i, for one, respect the Ducks & Jets for standing firm against these RFAs

(meanwhile they have a combined 3 points in the standings)

Solid, aggressive PK and a goaltender coming up with a couple of great saves during that penalty... Am I really watching the Toronto Maple Leafs rn?
