Flyers played with guts tonight. Nice win for them.

Brutal 4 game road stretch coming up though; Jets and Wild during the week followed by Blue Jackets & Pens next weekend.

Anderson didn't look so sharp yesterday so why make him play both games?
2nd place in the division is the actual prize since you get to avoid the Rags in the 1st round

Exactly. Get a poor shooter or a situation where running clock is more important and it starts to make sense.

Also it would pressure players to not blatantly commit penalties when they are beat (penalty shots aren't even called all the time) which the NHL should like because of player safety.

If not, at least give the team the option if they want to take a penalty shot or power play. Plus, this is already the rule if a major penalty is committed where penalty shot and penalty are awarded.

I was about to ask myself how you outshoot a team 48-21 and still lose but I guess hard to win when you spot them 4 goals. I am too lazy to go back and look but I am pretty sure the Wild outshot (and pretty much outplayed) the opposing team in 5 of the last 7 losses. Nothing to be proud of though, team looks shaky - not exactly the way that you want to limp into the playoffs.

Interesting offside call in the Chicago game yesterday. War room got the call right I think, but its a weird situation going forward. For anyone that didn't see it, essentially it came down to the war room deciding that a player stick handling isn't deemed 'possession', only the exact instances of contact with puck on stick is possession.

I think it was a player passing the puck isn't deemed possession. Stickhandling is possession.

Nah, it was for a delayed offside tag up, Hawk player had possession skating up to and over the blue line, but war room deemed the fact that although the puck passed the blue line before the player tagged up while the person was just stick handling over the line, the puck wasn't in contact with his stick until the player tagged up a split second later so no offside was called.

By the strict letter of the law, its the correct call, because contact with the stick is true possession, but its always been a spirit of the game thing that stick handling is possession. Its why shootout goals are allowed when a puck goes backwards, but its just in the process of handling it, like when a shooter skates across the goal to force the goalie down, then just pulls the puck back a little to shoot it top shelf.
