nfl trades seem to come as surprises so it's hard to believe the rumors. especially the ones that don't make any sense whatsoever.

80 percent chance of the #1 seed after 8 weeks is pretty solid.

Is this the 3rd year in a row that DEN has played @NE in the regular season?

Pretty weird that there's a 1.6 point difference between the 17th and 18th best teams. I'd expect things to be more clustered around the middle of the pack.

Denver's seed projection chart makes for a ****ty skyline.

Carolina's chart has to be the weirdest.

That AFCN race will be interesting. I don't understand Pittsburgh. They've looked amazing in like 2 games then bad in the rest. Cincy took care of Balt which is huge but they've still got 4 games against Pitt and Cle.

Mike Vick starting again. GET HYPE.

Bad idea for Vick. Going to be hard to get a backup job when he is EXPOSED worse than Richard Sherman and the Seahawks GM

So the Raiders called a fake FG yesterday where Schaub was the holder and SeaBass split out wide. Schaub fumbles the snap, then gets up and heaves the ball downfield only to be intercepted.

8 million dollars. 1 snap, 1 fumble, 1 interception.

Matt Schaub.

It was beautiful, wasn't it? Death, taxes, and Matt Schaub turnovers.

Anyway, moving this from the bad posters thread

They also lost last year's CB2 and CB3 in free agency and the new starter, last year's CB4, has been hurt. Offhand, I think the lack of secondary depth has been the bigger problem than any changes in their play due to the new rules.

Great point. Cinci has the best collection of talent on both ends but the worst QB, Pit has maybe the best lead RB, best WR corps, and best QB when he calls the shats. Balt as the best performing d and has had offensive bursts but everyone does. Can't speak to any teams OLs but Puts D always looks sloppy.

Thinking cin>pit>>bal but each > is close. If Ben bends the coaching staff over like a sorority chick, game over for the rest of the division.

I saw it on Red Zone when it happened. I think everyone in Houston got a laugh out of that.

What happened is that he was a slightly above-average QB, and like most QBs of that caliber, the decline of his performance around age 32-33 actually turned into a steep cliff.

And this year's CB3 is on IR/DR.

I think you're underrating Schaub at his peak. He was very substantially above average (when healthy) from '08-'12. Look at this falloff.

You're right-- 4th in WPA and 7th in EPA in 2009 is extremely surprising to me. I don't think I would have considered him better than any of the QBs 8th-14th on the EPA list.

I did remember, though, that I graphed his ANY/A this offseason, and it seems to indicate a clear trend of peaking from 28-30 (2009-11) and then steadily declining:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...nc&output=html

From a scouting standpoint, it was clear to me that Schaub had lost / was losing arm strength last season. While I heard arguments that "He never relied on his arm, so it shouldn't matter," I believe the opposite: He didn't have enough arm strength at his peak to afford to lose any and still be productive.

I think it's crazy how people still look at these as absolute rankings while (sometimes) ignoring the actual #'s, which are much more meaningful.

CIN gained .6 points from their GPF yesterday AM, seems fine for a nice (home) win over a solid team. close game but a solid edge in YPP

BAL lost .1 which is a rounding error.

the absolute rankings are volatile bc so many teams are so close/effectively tied. the GPF much much less volatile

Any Broncos fans want a bit of charity action for the upcoming game in Foxboro?

$20, loser donates to winner's charity of choice. I have Pats.
