It's no longer the offseason! We should have a new thread.

So what's going on so far in training camp?

  • RGIII named the starter in Cleveland
  • Apparently, the Buffalo Bills are made of glass
  • The Cowboys don't seem to know what they are doing
  • Hey Gabba Gabba and Crapernick are fighting it out in San Fran to see who will be the worst QB in the league this year
  • Broncos might go from first to worst
  • The Rams are back in LA and HARD KNOCKS starts soon
  • And the Pats get to save 39 year-old Brady for the first four weeks of the season thereby guaranteeing an obvious run to the playoffs with fresh legs

LET US NFL!

Is Bosa still holding out? I thought the new cba fixed rookie contracts. Wtf is he holding out for? His mother's approval?

How is Gabbert still in the NFL? It's unbelievable how high drafted QBs get 6th and 7th chances to prove they are still ass.

Just Chargers being cheap

Quote:
All rookie contracts under the current CBA cover four years with a choice for teams to pick up the fifth-year option, extending the rookie contract one season. Teams want offset language included in case they decide to cut a player in his fourth season. Without offset language, the player is entitled to all of the money his original team was supposed to pay in his fourth season, and he can sign a new contract with another team and also earn all of that money.

A lack of offset language essentially allows a player to double dip and earn money from two teams. If there’s offset language included in the contract, it lets the original team off the hook. Obviously, the Chargers want offset language, and Bosa doesn’t.

The other issue, signing bonus deferment, is very simple. Bosa wants his signing bonus now. The team would prefer to spread it out over time. Bosa’s camp has repeatedly expressed a willingness to compromise and accept either the offset language or the signing bonus deferral, but the Chargers appear unwilling to budge.

in the 9ers case, they didn't/can't/wouldn't trade kaep who's a terrible fit for chip so he starts by default?

I mean the list is in the league Gabbert isn't even the worst. Sean Mannion and Christian Hackenberg should never have been drafted, have zero merit to being on a NFL roster based on ability, and they got picked in round 3 and 2 respectively. Gabbert looks amazing compared to those guys. and I didn't get into the hoyers/weedens/cassel/whoever else that is over loved for some white reason.

He's arguably not the worst starter either, Case Keenum is the rams starter and is going to be week 1.

Clausen! he's got to be still in the league, probably balt b/c trestman played him over cutler despite clearly being not better than cutler. Also I think he still hasn't won a football game? (nope he's 1-13!)

Henne, kellen Clemens, all still in the league. hell Scott Tolzien is a second stringer right now for somebody.

the biggest issue is that there's basically zero time for development in all but a few orgs, (since they have to win now at all costs) so players like that get recycled and other guys who showed some potential and NFL traits (that weren't arm strength, NFL loves arm strength, even tho it's not the #1 trait of a successful QB but the NFL didn't want them (usually due to height, see vernon adams, or black (many others)) get washed out too soon then everyone forgets about them and they have to do something else since there's no other league to improve other than the CFL really, which has only 9 teams and different rules regarding play time--mostly being canadians have to play a lot.

I mean every fan of Mizzou knew Gabbert was worse than Chase Daniel (b2b Mizzou QB's) except the NFL. (last laugh is for Daniel tho, he's getting paid more than Gabbert this season and doesn't have to get killed behind whatever the hell Philly is calling a football team this season.

who isn't in the league
Christian Ponder and Jake Locker aren't in the league anymore, so it's not like they all get that many chances (and in gabbert's case, this is technically only the 2nd chance). EJ manuel might not get a 2nd chance at all.

I've been hearing good things about Wendell Smallwood. Did suffer a quad injury but I'm hoping he gets a chance this year.

Yeah, Hard Knocks sucked. That opening was the cheesiest thing ever. HBO just manufactured TV drama...same with their 24/7 boxing series. Compare this to the Cardinals show last month and it's night and day. That was NFL Films, right? They know what they're doing.

LOL at the guy getting released because he had a girl in his room.

as much as I love everything about LA (books, tv shows, movies/docs, whatever because I grew up there and it's fun to be taken back home), the LA-focus of this season I think is going to get tired pretty quick.

And LOL at fisher saying he expects better than 10-6. The rams suck besides like 1 player on each side of the ball.

As I LA guy I found it lame.

Really don't think that having the girl in his room is the main reason they released. Just a convenient excuse for a guy that wasn't going to make the team anyway and they probably had other issues with him.

Fisher doesn't exactly come off as someone who knows what he's doing. Besides a couple lame speeches I'm really not sure what the guys does but just stands around looking stoned half the time.

panthers do one of those hard knocks camp thing on their own

http://prod.video.panthers.clubs.nfl...er_1-5000k.mp4

ep 1 was too vanilla for me tho
eh regarding the rams, a vet might've gotten cut with that much less a fringe guy. Rams DL is good enough even on a bad overall team to go 10-6 but their QB situation right now is just brutal.

Bills are so ****ing snakebit. Ragland out for the year with a partially torn ACL, even though they could theoretically put him on IR and then activate him later. Guess they're being cautious.

Ridiculous...Shaq Lawson out for a good portion of the year, too. What was the point of the draft again??

Think about how difficult it must be that the best of the best suck.

I was watching a game a decade ago and they showed a throw from behind McNabb. 25 yard throw worth a window of like 1 inch margin for error.

My perspective changed a ton on that view.
