Nice OP. But let's clear up a few things...

I don't know how this team manages to lose so many games every year. Romo is good for 2 WTF ARE YOU DOING ZOMG losses per year on average. Last year that lol loss to the Jets and the multi-pick 6 when up 20 game against the Lions were both entirely his fault. Throw in a healthy dose of lol Dez, an incompetent coaching staff and a meddling owner/gm, and I guess that explains it. Oh yeah, and Mike Jenkins.

1) Haters love to overlook the fact that Romo is also good for single-handedly orchestrating come-from-behind wins, as he did last year against San Fran and Washington, which effectively cancel out the WTF losses.
2) With Brandon Carr and Morris Claiborne to start at #1 and #2 CB, and Scandrick playing in the slot, Mike Jenkins is looking at being the #4 CB. He's virtually a non-factor in predicting the Boys' 2012 season, barring injuries of course.
3) By all accounts, Dez looks more beastly and focused in mini-camps this year then he did all last season. That doesn't go for much right now, but I won't be shocked if this is his breakout year. It's coming sooner or later, only a matter of time.
4) The coaching does have a high degree of ineptitude at times and plenty of FAIL moments. That being said, a new DC combined with the lockout shortened offseason put the defense behind the curve, and it showed. There's no guarantee they'll have the x's and o's any better, but they're certainly in a better position to be then they were this time last year... Garrett... he can be sharp at times and mind-numbingly clueless at others. You just never know.
I'm obviously a massive homer, but trying to be objective -- I think with the changes they've made and how the offseason has progressed for them, it's very reasonable to see them improving by a couple games on last year's record. And if they somehow manage to cut back on WTF moments, they'll certainly contend for the division.
