Why would you bring up this second point then, if you didn't have so other mission. It's really pointless. You say were jealous. If you don't think you are better than us, why would we be jealous. People are jealous of other people if they are better than them in some way. Am I jealous cause you are a bigger loser than I am? Think about it.

I dissagree. Sports is fun and games and being irrational and unreasonable about your teams is what makes it fun. This is one area of life that calls for this type of behaivor. Let the players take it seriously, the fans don't have to.

I'm only a fan of my sports teams and while I'm a part of their existence, I'm not really a part of their success. You may be jealous of me because I live in a city that has had great success in sports but because I'm not responsible for that success, you wouldn't really be jealous of me as a person. This is the jealousy that I speak of and it does not involve me thinking that I'm personally better than anyone else, it only involves me thinking that our sports teams are better than everyone else's, which is easily measurable.

I'm not objective or non-biased nor do I care to be nor do I expect anyone else to be. I think I've made that pretty clear.

You have some issues; you've used this word like eleventy seven times in this thread. What does jealousy have to do with an otherwise rational (and easy) debate about how much better Manning is than Brady?

I can honestly say, I'm not jealous of Boston cause their sports teams win. I hate their fans cause they love to point stuff out like this. I respect the Celtics, Pats and Sox individually. One of my best friends is a fan of these teams, I don't hate him for being a fan of those teams. I hate people who love to point it out in a discussion where it doesn't matter.

Emotional investment in sports should be a given. That's what being a fan is all about.

Jealousy has nothing to do with the original debate. I thought it was pretty clear that the debate shifted a bit. It was clear to me anyways.

The ring arguments--teams play too much of a factor. And one can also argue Belicheck > Dungy. Belicheck seemed to always outsmart Dungy, Peyton and Moore.

The clutch argument. Just a cliche that the media loves.

The weapons argument. Peyton hasn't had great weapons the last 2 seasons and he's been MVP level for both. You can argue that Brady's have been better the last 3 seasons, 1 which he missed, and yet Peyton has been suprisingly effective.

What would it take for Peyton to be equal to Brady in the minds of Pats fans? I guess Peyton would have to win 4 SBs, then that small little argument would end, but I guess they would bring up something else.

I'm pointing it out because your argument was ridiculous. I wasn't speaking about me personally, I was speaking about my sports team that I root for. That a pretty huge difference as far as I'm concerned.

Of course we like to point out that our teams have won. Why wouldn't we? That's what makes sports enjoyable, winning.

It shifted because I shifted it. I starting ranting about how good Boston sports are because the untouchable kept posting pics of the 07 Superbowl, which of course reminded me of the worst defeat one of my teams had undergone and I wanted to spout off about how well our teams have done in the last ten years, which makes me feel better.

Which is a terrible approach. If you want to discuss something ignore the people that aren't making arguments and discuss things with the people that are.

So it goes back to my earlier statements, if winning is all that matters; why don't you become a fan of every team. Winning isn't the most important thing to many fans. It's nice, but really it isn't the everything. Obviously it's #1 to many, but I enjoy the players, the fanbase, the struggle at times. I enjoy how they play, the coaches, etc. Winning is definitely nice, but really i enjoy the drama too.

If winning was #1 by far to most important thing, you'd expect certain teams to have all the fans, yet that doesn't happen. Yankees are favorites but I can't imagine there fanbase trumps the rest of MLB. Steelers, Cowboys and a couple of other franchises are huge, but they don't trump the rest of the NFL, there must be something else that drives people to be fans of teams.

I don't become a fan of every team because winning is not enjoyable without losing. The reason that 01 meant so much to me was because of 25 years of heartache and failure that preceded it and because I was loyal for all those years.

And the winning isn't the only thing argument makes no sense to me at all. Are you saying that fans ever want their team to lose. The only joy that comes out of being a fan is when your team wins. Your REALLY not making sense now.
