considering how GMs value average QBs, theres zero chance the Rams cut Bradford, right? His cap hit is still massive but not gntd anymore, so they could basically walk away.

Dolphins will invariably be right there ready to trade up and grab a guy who a) nobody in front of them wanted and b) won't even start.

Why the **** all Dolphins staffers still have their jobs aorn is a ****ing mystery.

Rams are likely to hold on to Bradford.

But if they find good value at a draft spot, they very well might snag a QB.

All the noises coming from St Louis indicate he will be the starting QB in 2014

I actually think the texans will go like 9-7 next year.

But they have to go QB surely. I know the whole Clowney - Watt Goat D thing, but they seriously need a QB.

Can get a qb in the second round though. There is only one clowney while there are a number of solid qb prospects. They'll probably go qb but I think they'd be better off getting one in the early second. None of the qbs available are eye popping.

If you don't think Bridgewater is "eye-popping", then you haven't been paying attention or your standards are way off.

While I agree with his views on the subject, there's no doubt that Chris was taking on exactly this risk and that the Vikings were well within their rights to ask him to stfu about it and also within their rights to fire him over it.

Kluwe was someone in between the 17th-22nd best punter in 2012 and on the decline. Why would you want a below average punter rustling some of your fans?

Cross posting:

Kluwe was below average on the downside of his career with a veteran min contract that hurt his chances. He was with the raiders in the offseason and cut cuz he wasn't the best punter on the team. His argument that he's a team first guy because he punts for hang time is weak and something that every team in the league prob tells their punters.

It's also relevant that the Vikings had recently hit a home run doing roughly the exact same thing by cutting Longwell who had been every bit as good of a kicker as Kluwe had been a punter and drafting Walsh.

Kluwe was a cut candidate even if he never said a word. Easily replaced his performance for half the cost. Kinda comes off as an attention grab and sour grapes.

If no clause makes money guaranteed if he is traded, it is probably more likely some team thinks highly of him and gives him a shot than he gets straight up cut (assuming many teams have cap room), as the new team can still just cut him as well.

Exposing bigotry is fine and I'm glad he did, but claiming he got cut because of his views is just trying to make himself a martyr when he's just a mediocre punter.

All you clowns trotting out the "Kluwe was a candidate to be cut based on performance/age" are completely missing the point.

smh

I mean, read the first paragraph:

Quote:
Hello. My name is Chris Kluwe, and for eight years I was the punter for the Minnesota Vikings. In May 2013, the Vikings released me from the team. At the time, quite a few people asked me if I thought it was because of my recent activism for same-sex marriage rights, and I was very careful in how I answered the question. My answer, verbatim, was always, "I honestly don't know, because I'm not in those meetings with the coaches and administrative people."

This is a true answer. I honestly don't know if my activism was the reason I got fired.

However, I'm pretty confident it was.
That is not a claim. And it doesn't even matter.

While you can make a pretty good case for Kluwe's release being performance-based, if his allegations regarding what Mike Priefer said are true, then discrimination clearly played a large part.

Ehh, should they really be? I mean, I have a tough time seeing a case that Kluwe's activism materially affected the Vikings' bottom line.

i'm the furthest thing from a football prospect analyst, but don't many "experts" have non-teddy QBs (JFF, bortles, ucla guy) as the best at the position? wouldn't this indicate that teddy isn't quite the slam dunk that some people think he is? not saying i'd take CLOWNEY over him but it doesn't feel like a payton/luck slam dunk year

Not to my knowledge. A couple of places have leaked stories that some teams have other QBs higher on their draft board, but no one has actually come out and attached their name to anyone but Teddy Bridgewater as the #1 QB.

I think most football writers who publish something about not-Teddy as a better prospect are scraping the barrel for something to discuss.

Stafford and Cutler are pretty similar actually. Both have great arm strength, struggle with mechanics, struggle with inconsistent accuracy, and struggle when throwing to replacement level players. But Stafford is five years younger, doesn't have a long history of concussions, has been better than Cutler in obvious passing situations (but just has had to be in them much more often) and the coaching in Detroit has been highly questionable at best.

Luck was a GOATish prospect. Bridgewater is a strong top QB. Talking heads on ESPN are typically terrible this time of the year. Gabbert #1 overall and Cam as a mid 1st were ESPN projections from this time of year that come to mind.

Teddy is a pretty big favorite to go #1 over the field. I'm also pretty confident Johnny Football goes in the top 6, likely 2nd or 3rd overall.
