Yea I love when they do it and I'm bummed to see it go but I'm OK with their rationale. Apparently the players association agreed.

as DI said he's a fan favorite in miami because of his heritage, but he was also a favorite in buffalo right after he was drafted.

I'm sure it will get sorted one way or the other over the next month or two.
The Pats and Saints can't trade unless he signs his tender, but I believe the Saints can extend an offer sheet.

Problem for the Saints is, if the offer sheet is too low the Pats match and keep Butler, if it's too high they lose #11 for the privilege of paying market or close to market.

For some reason Butler's agent doesn't seem to understand he is never getting a market deal while an RFA. He should have taken the deal the Pats reportedly offered prior to last season.

I don't think we're disagreeing. I mean technically they could, they just wouldn't.

Copied and pasted from PFT:

"The issue with short weeks is part of the problem facing the schedule-makers for accommodating the Lions: In five of the last six seasons, the Lions have played at home on the Sunday before Thanksgiving, in addition to playing on Thanksgiving. That’s an accommodation the NFL tries to give to all the teams playing on Thanksgiving so they won’t have too much travel during a short work week."

I have always thought it was BS that Dallas and Detroit get to play a home game the week before Thanksgiving. If a team has to travel to one of those cities to play them on a short week, why don't the Lions and Cowboys have to travel home as well, to keep things fair?

Am I way off on this?

How can the NFL give that accommodation to all teams playing on Thanksgiving? Half of them have to be the away team...

Edit: nvm I think I was misinterpreting

If TNF has to be a thing, start it week 5 and make sure the teams playing on Thursday are coming off a bye.

God damn

Or just let everyone have two bye weeks. Seems like every team would be happy with that.

They did this before, players hated it.

Yup, bye weeks equals more practice and players hate practice. As Neon Deion once said, yes I may be paraphrasing, "if they just let me play the games I'd play a little longer".

We talkin' bout practice.

NHL has a bye week policy with an enforced 5 days without practice.

Something similar could work in NFL

Bye week 1 is to facilitate TNF (so you have an 11 day break then a 10 day break so to speak) with the other bye being a full bye week with the 5 day provision

So basically 4 teams on bye every week (2 week 1)

Two teams on the full bye, other two teams prepping for TNF

The 6 team bye happens week before Turkey Day (so all of Detroit, their opponents, Dallas, their opponents and the TNF feature match have teams coming off 11 days rest.

Alshon Jeffrey was only a handful of games away from becoming bears all time leading receiver despite only being there 5 seasons and injured or played while injured for a decent chunk of that.

god are the Bears the offensive WOAT for QB/WR.

Brown's should have thrown a bunch of guaranteed money at this guy in a 1 year deal.

Why would Browns do that, Romo could potentially win them a few games
NFL Off-Season 2017 Quote

Romo would have been a YOLO choice for the Texans or Broncos. He probably can't stay healthy for the season but if he did, he'd be a giant upgrade over their current QBs. since they become legit SB threats with a top 10 QB, maybe it would have been worth it for them.

it's much less worth it for Browns who are years away from competing even with a good QB

Browns would have SB equity with Romo after this draft.
