Patriots resign 3rd string TE Michael Williams, & make the Gilmore 5/$65m/$40m official.

Big upgrade from Cook but I don't think they've improved at this point assuming they lose Lang.

Does it even matter?

Bardford, Padford, Tallford is the opposition.

I mean. Cooks would work well in the Carolina offense too but they're signing Shepard and Johnson

Pats fans are so lucky

I can't imagine it was; the #18 is obviously better than #32 and moving up 15 spots in the low 100s

1st seems like a lot for Cooks but definitely makes sense since Brady's window is about 2-3 more years. Should be going hard in that window.

As far as Bennett, he's been hurt the last few years. I'm not sure I'd take him over Cook right now. I think once Cook got healthy he really worked well with Rodgers.

Cook definitely overplayed his hand on that 1 though.

Cooks / Alshon / Pryor not really comparable players but interesting that the Pats gave the 1st for Cooks and the cheap contract versus simply writing the check for Alshon. They have plenty of cap space still.

Besides Randy Moss, whenever Pats have went after a WR in FA/trade it has always been more of a route runner/smaller guy rather than a big outside WR type.

Derrick Mason/Amendola/Ochocinco/B Lloyd/Cooks/Welker and even Nuk Hopkins I believe they tried to get this year.

cooks and alshon are completely different players in that system.

here's what the saints heard

Titans
we'll give you our 1st rounder

Patriots
we'll give you our 1st rounder and our 3rd for a 4th rounder.

No brainer from their perspective.

They always could've said no, then titans pulled it back and then they settled for this too.

dang they play the patriots this year, was trying to find a still dumb but not inexplicable reason to do the latter one instead of the first one.
