Washington seems like a dysfunctional franchise where everyone involved is just working to cover their asses and save their jobs.

semi related Redskins thoughts.

there was an interesting tweet from Lombardi this morning about how McLoughan's absence is about money....presumably he's negotiating a release settlement but he didn't elaborate, which was kind of infuriating.

Giving Gruden an extension is a signal that they're more likely trading Cousins IMO - Gruden would have wanted his future locked in before he agreed to letting the QB go because there'll no doubt be a dip in production with McCoy/another QB

And again, maybe just maybe this is all part of a bigger plan and they're gonna max trade value for Kirk and then grab Romo at less $$ and actually compete for a few years/trade their first rounder for Jimmy G and still get the #2 pick with a potential upgrade at QB who is on a rookie contract for the next 112 months

Jerry Jones would combust if Romo joins Skins but it would be ****ing brilliant

Some of these guys cut and their offset language deals need to go.

Darrelle Revis doesn't have much incentive to play football this year. What's he gonna play for like 1-2mill? Like Ty Law said, can't feed your kids with superbowl rings.

It's pretty sad because in all my experience living in DC, they are a top-3 fanbase. They fill that stadium and follow them passionately regardless of Snyder and everything that happens to them.

In dysfunctional franchise news, I don't think we covered this yesterday, but the Rams are actively trying to shop Trumaine Johnson, who is on a 2nd franchise tag for about $17m despite being only pretty good at his job.

I can't imagine a team paying a lot for the privilege of overpaying him so drastically, or working out a long term deal which has to take into account the fact that without a long term deal he's making $17m & will be totally unrestricted next year.

His DC is now the Browns DC, & his position coach is now with the Jets, so I guess it's possible?

If a team trades significantly more than the 3rd round comp pick they would potentially get if he walks at the end of the year, it seems silly.

I think it's just the opposite. They want continuity everywhere, so they are keeping the head coach and the QB.

The rumors of trading Cousins are all just bull**** rumors. He'll play for the Redskins next season.

OBJ and Marshall on the same team... what could go wrong?

To be fair, he's already bottoming out. He's sticking in town because of his network show and media aspirations. He was never leaving NY.

2/$12m for Marshall is pretty pretty good.

I guess it's guaranteed that the NYG will miss the playoffs next season. Since Brandon Marshall has never made the playoffs.

Bills after RT Wagner and FB Juszczyk

I would love both...not sure how they can afford it unless the are restructuring Glenn/Dareus.

The Bills with "juice" in the backfield again would interesting....

It's pretty good but there's no scenario under which Marshall and OBJ together produce a happy, functional offense or team with Eli at the helm. And "Eli at the helm" is the back burner of this concept

Can anyone name another team in history with two #1s placed together like this? Marshall and OBJ...

Colts resign Jack Doyle. No big deal, just nice to see them pay a moderate amount for a good-not-great player. Still plenty of time to spend $16M on Bouye or something.

Well not for nothing but...

2015 Jest

Brandon Marshall - 109 rec, 1502 yds, 14 TD

Eric Decker - 80 rec, 1027 yds, 12 TD

all with noted chucker Harvard Fitzpatrick calling signals

(Granted this team went 4-12 but both yielded at or near WR1 production)

I'm fine with resigning Doyle. Sad to see Joe Reitz retire yesterday, though.

So here's the game...not sure if I want to bother starting a thread because I really don't know if anyone would want to play...there's too many f questions...if you guys are interested, though, PM me answers, & if you think I should start a thread I will...

I had a request to run a game wherein one guesses what will happen during NFL's silly season. No idea if anyone else will have interest in playing the game, but hopefully it'll be fun if you do?

There are 3 different types of questions:

1) Where will guys end up?

You will get 1 point for getting these right. 0 if wrong.

2) How much will they get paid?

This will be in the format of years/total $/guaranteed $. The guaranteed $ is only real guarantees, not injury only guarantees. I will use a formula to determine how close people are to the actual #s. The person who is closest will get 1. The person who is farthest will get 0, and people will get partial points in between depending on where they fall on the spectrum. I'll probably be using Spotrac for the contract details once they are publicly available.

For people currently under contract, you can just say "current contract" or "tag" or "tender" or whatever is applicable.

3) Superlatives (highest paid WR, etc.)

1 point if you're right. 0 if wrong.

Free agency is pretty fluid & confirmed reports are going to start to come out very soon. If a signing is confirmed, & not just rumored, before you get your entry in, you won't get any points for being right, so the incentive is to get in ASAP.

To enter, PM me a list, preferably in this format:

Answer 1
Answer 2
Answer 3
etc.

Which is unnumbered, single-space. If you don't format perfectly, but I can still figure it out, it's not the end of the world.

Here are the questions:

What are you talking about? There's been a ton.

Marshall played with Alshon ffs.

Boldin and Fitz, Holt and Bruce, Brown and Rice, Moss and Carter, Wayne and Harrison, etc.

While on the topic: most underrated wr duo ever has to be Jimmy Smith and Keenan McCardell.

Rod Smith and Easy Ed were very good too.
