People can say "Oh Giants benched him" but he played with elite WR's in AZ and they still drafted Matt Leinart.

I don't even necessarily mind him getting in because I don't care who is/isn't in the HOF, but I think there will be a lot of guys that don't get in who are better than him.

Yeah, he had injuries in the middle of his career but so have a lot of guys. And they didn't get to play with Holt, Bruce, Faulk, Fitz, Boldin in their primes.

Rivers is an absolute born winner that has exhibited an unholy amount of WIM for a decade. I don't care what his volume stats are, he can hold Favre's jockstrap and that dude led the league in INT's before he was born. I've never seen so many ****ing strips sacks because of his ability to move 2 feet. His bread and butter is shallow crossing patterns that get 24 yards of RAC followed up with eating another sack to keep his stats upright so he doesn't relapse into chucking another INT. HOF guy that gets it done when it's 34-24 Jaguars.

But, look at what he's done with so little, he got past Cincinatti in January and lost to the Browns this year (clearly not his fault) since he only plays QB. Injuries played a huge role, and that's tough to overcome against the Browns. HOFer or not, don't care what you say, nobody can overcome that amount of injuries when you only have Benjamin, Tyrell, Inman, Gates, and Henry to throw to. Same thing against the Dolphins 4 INT's in the 4th qtr can't blame him for being put in that position.

Better than the Orchestrater of the "greatest show of turf", yeah I'm onboard with that!

In Macagnan's defense, I had to argue with half this forum that Brady was better than Foles in 2014.

It was 2013, Foles led the league that year in a bunch of statistical categories and a lot of people here are all about the stats. 14, not so much.

Brady won by 2 in AV but had more starts so overall you were right, but per start you were wrong, but people went full slurp because the TD-INT ratio was 27:2.

2014 off-season thread.

I seem to only post in offseason threads.

It was in regards to which QB you'd rather have going forward, but I also was given the opinion that people would rather have Foles in 2014.

There were definitely a lot and I'm presuming none of the good posters were on the foles train of that argument.

Wasnt a lot of that cap hit and age?

Wasn't completely terrible given Brady for maybe 4 more years and a guy who just went 27-2 for 12 or more.

How did the Rams and Cardinals do with all these elite players before Warner took over as QB?

Yeah, Foles was cheap for 1 more year & then he'd have to be resigned for far more than Brady if he was actually good.

I mean it may have been defensible at the time if you thought Foles was good & Brady was done, but my point then was Foles isn't good, & my point in bringing it up now is that lots of people were on the Foles hype train, not just Macagnan.

Nath's point was that Macagnan is a QB racist, which may also be true.

Trent Green had a better 2000 season than Warner did. Too bad he got injured in the preseason in '99, or he could've made the HOF instead.

Trent Green was very good, and if he ended up with Warner's post season success he might've had a case.

variance is a thing in all sports and sports journos and the Hot Take brigade just prefer to ignore it, or are too stoopid to consider it.

like, ARog is clearly a brilliant QB and has been for almost his entire career, but people using his Hail Mary TDs as some kind of proof of his clutchness and GOAT status are beyond ******ed.

He basically won 3 consecutive 30:70s.

I won't definitely say he is yet, but the evidence so far suggests he comes from a line of "tall, white, big arm" thinking at the position.

Takes decades to change mindsets. And might not have been even terrible in the Peyton Manning /early Brady days. Slow, tall white QBs win championships!

Russell Wilson, CAM, Dak Prescott etc continuing to break through can only mean good things for future black QBs getting drafted into the NFL.

true, but an even better indicator is surname syllables.

Of 20 QBs to have appeared in more than 1 Super Bowl, 16 have had 2 syllable surnames, 2 have had 1 syllable surnames, (Starr, Favre) only 1 has had 3 syllables (Tarkenton) and 1 has had 4 (Rape).

I realise that 2 syllable QBs flame out too, but we've seen what happens when arrogant GMs try to buck the odds and pick Mettenberger, Hackenburg, Osweiler and their ilk. When will these guys learn?

It's no wonder Teddy Bridgewater got injured - he had the weight of all those 3 and 4 syllable failures throughout history dragging him down. I'd be betting on a very nasty end to the Tannehill's career coming very soon.

I don't care what scouting reports I read on Trubisky, Peterman, Torgerson, they're off my board and staying there

Spoiler:
before any of you pedants jump in, I'm Australian and Montana has 2 syllables where I come from

Yeah no getting it. Pretty much have to disregard the last "a" and it's "uh" sound in order to get down to two.
