Seattle signed Blair Walsh.

Well he's already won a playoff game for them so why not.

I mean, as much as I've liked Haushka, he'd kinda gone downhill this season. Walsh has been bad, but he's also been elite. Maybe he can pull his head out of his ass? Or maybe there'll be someone else to try.

"I think the toughest one -- I haven't told this yet to the media -- all my kids took it really well," Lynch said. "They were shocked but they took it really well. My 9 year old started bawling, and she's not that girl. She's the one that was always happy. And she was crying, and I said, 'What's wrong Leah? Are you afraid? Is there some nervous anxiety about moving?' And she said, 'No daddy,' and she was sobbing. And I said, 'What's wrong?' And she said, 'The 49ers are horrible.' So, I said, 'Well, I think that's why they hired your daddy.'"

What kind of superdouche even pretends in interviews to talk that way to their kids?

Nope, I'm just saying even if I'm being charitable & he doesn't actually talk to his kid that way, it's still superdouchey.

well to be optimistic the last time a former player in the booth got pulled to be a NFL GM, it worked out great.

Spoiler:

Quick analysis of the 3 teams that somehow don't have cap space

Chiefs
if they don't cut anyone -3M.

Problems
This still doesn't count resigning of Berry/Poe. Very likely only can keep one and that's only because Nick Foles can get cut to save 10.75M. Or they'll do whatever they did to have schwartz only 2M this year and they get to be the saints for a couple seasons later, a brilliant strat with kelce/peters emerging and needing to get paid eventually.
Jamaal Charles 6.X is clearly a goner. Everyone else is just a few M here or there. Enough room to be clear of the cap + resign berry say, but not much more than that.

The lol Jets
if cut nobody -13.7 (!)
Good news, all the old people can gtfo.
Clady likely cut or restructured
Revis saves either 7.3 (now) or 9 (jun 1st)
Bmarsh certainly gone at 7.5M savings
Mangold just over 9M
and there's a bunch more they could cut if they wanted to, at least the Jets aren't stuck with all these old guys except for forte for another season.

negatives
still don't have a QB worth a damn
it's the ****ing jets

Cowboys
if nobody cut -14M

problems
I keep reading romo is getting traded and they can get a 3rd rounder... I still just don't see how. A trade only saves them 5M, a post Jun cut gives them 14M and they badly need the 9. Team gonna have to eat it as part of the deal (I'm not sure how that happens but I'm sure it could), which KC can't do either way and HOU would have more $ spent on QB's than some countries GDP so they're out. so that leaves ???? Denver? (still pretty unlikely) Still don't see how this works to a contending team but what do I know.

Alternatively witten/lee can save 7M each. Something's gotta give, somebody's gotta take a pay cut. Cut doug free? The easiest cap clearing thing to do would be to trade frederick, but that's not happening either. crawford?

They've got 18 unrestricted free agents, gl with that.

they'll probably restructure tyron's deal again like every year, frederick, dez, bunch of others, they'll get there but it's just standard DAL making it hard for them to improve in the offseason every year. They will lose leary at the minimum anyway.

Their situation doesn't look too bad, I don't think. If Romo gets cut or traded this offseason, they will have $60MM in cap space next year, so they can easily convert Smith's and/or Dez's base salary to bonuses. Alfred Morris is an easy cut to save another $1.6MM.

Yeah, Matt Millen led the Lions to the 3rd worst record during a 7 year stretch in NFL history...& was the 2nd highest paid GM for most of that time. Amazing he got that many years.

He was fired in 2008 & replaced by Martin Mayhew, who was also fired after 7 years, & is now Senior Personnel Director for the 49ers.

Regarding the Romo thing, they could save over $9m by getting rid of Smith & Romo would cost $14m (without a restructure) so it's not impossible per se...although I would be pretty pretty scared to send out a Romo/Bray depth chart.

Kelce is signed through 2021, & they have Peters under contract for 2 more years, so those aren't huge problems right now.

Plus they have a lot of players signed, which makes it easier to deal with being closer to the cap.

They also could do smaller things like get rid of Josh Mauga & save $3m, or Dustin Colquitt & save $4m.

But yeah, they have a lot of problematic contracts like DJohnson & Tamba, & Justin Houston's cap hit is $22.1m this year (& then declines slightly).

Looking @ the Jets roster is pretty hilarious. Being over the cap while paying your QBs under $2m is impressive. Sure, they can clear the cap, but then they'll have even less above average NFL players.

I remember, was it last off-season, someone was arguing that Hackenberg had to be good because Macagnan drafted him? Lol Macagnan. Lol Jets.

Trading Frederick would cost them an extra $2m in dead cap. He has a nice declining contract they could easily restructure tho. It makes a lot more sense to get maximum trade value for Romo & push back other players hits rather than push back Romo's hit, but I agree the overall situation isn't ideal.

Maybe Witten will restructure? Paying him $12m is pretty lol, but I doubt the Cowboys want to take the PR bit of cutting him & paying him $5m.

They're the bizarro-Stealers.

Wayne Fontes was there forever too.

Cowboys are in fine shape especially now that they can shed Romo. Plenty of restructures available. Can even extend Witten to save money I think even if this is last year.
Can't "win" free agency but that doesn't seem too important anyways.

random lol 49ers for their ongoing **** show.

That isn't right. That is true for cutting Frederick but not trading him, because most of Frederick's cap hit comes from his 2017 salary being full guaranteed. In a trade, the team that gets him would be responsible for picking that salary. Trading Frederick would save them $12.2M in cap space and have $2.6M dead money.
